69. Victoria's Secret Garden
So what could I do but laugh and go? Richard Le Gallienne. 18661947. I’vehad this poem taped to my computer monitor for nearly ten years now.
http://www.victoriassecretgarden.info/
Welcome Gardening Friends!
I meant to do my work today But a brown bird sang in the apple tree And a butterfly flitted across the field, And all the leaves were calling me. And the wind went sighing over the land, Tossing the grasses to and fro, And a rainbow held out its shining hand So what could I do but laugh and go? Richard le Gallienne I’ve had this poem taped to my computer monitor for nearly ten years now. This past year, deciding that I needed more laugh-and-go moments in my life, I began a little backyard gardening venture. Forsaking corporate America, with its requisite glass and brass, cubicle prisons, designer clothes, and long commutes on the highway, I chose a different path. For me, the office-with-a-view doesn’t even come close to the view-with-an-office…so I chose to work in my “outdoor office”…my garden. I’ve traded those designer clothes for work clothes from a thrift store; I’ve traded high-tech state-of-the-art office equipment for a tiller, a work bucket, and a composter; and I’ve traded a multi-storied view through glass for a view so close I can see the earthworms wriggling in the dirt as I dig. Needless to say, I haven’t looked back.
