Declan Rooney, 20, was yesterday found guilty of causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage with his spray can. And the graffiti gang leader clearly has no respect for the law, nor for the judge, nor for society. Above all, he is not afraid of punishment. When, as a Queen's Bench judge between 1961 and 1972, I had to pass long sentences on villains, I never deluded myself that at the end of their sentences they would leave prison better men than when they went in. Nor did I think that they would be deterred from committing further crimes. What a custodial sentence would do, I thought, was to show that society, in the only way it could, would not tolerate gross breaches of the law. When sentencing those under 21 to either borstal training or three months in a detention centre, I thought that they would benefit from the discipline they would get there.

Teddy was brought to Oklahoma Territory for the purpose of influencing him to consider statehood at the invitation of Burk Burnett who had large land holdings in Texas and Oklahoma Territory. Knowing of his love for the great outdoors, he was offered an opportunity to hunt wolves and coyotes with Jack (Catch 'em Alive) Abernathy. The painting depicts a camp scene after a day's hunt. Chief Quannah Parker came down from Lawton and joined the party for two days. After returning to the nation's Capitol, Teddy was influential in creating the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge and in 1907 signed the proclamation creating the State of Oklahoma. Richard Hearn CACHE Funeral for Richard Hearn, 34, Cache, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pete Coffey Mennonite Brethren Church, Cache, with the Rev. Patrick McClung officiating. Mr. Hearn died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, in Cache. Burial will be at Post Oak cemetery, Indiahoma, under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. He was born April 30, 1970, in Lawton. He grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1988. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma. He made his home in Oklahoma City and was employed with Dillards for many years as a sales representative. Survivors include his mother, Annette Tiddark, Cache; three sisters: Gracie Annette Scott and Sarah Tiddark, both of Cache; and Samantha L. Tiddark, Lawton; a brother, Michael Tiddark, Cache; two nieces: Shayla Scott and Kelsey Keiningham; his maternal grandparents, Baldwin Jr. and Marguerite Parker, Cache; his stepfather, Buddy Tiddark; his biological father, Steve Hearn; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
