The Fletchers - My Maternal Line
I was full of confidence when I began researching the FLETCHER family. My mother was born in Dover and her family had the good sense to stay put. Five generations revealed themselves, with very little effort on my part. My 3x great grandfather John Fletcher married Sophia HOLLAND/S in Dover in 1807 - it was just a matter of determining which of the many Kentish Fletcher families he belonged to. Or so I thought. When I got around to consulting the census records I learned that John claimed Cumberland as his birthplace! He was a long way from home! After a number of years I finally cracked the mystery, and found that John had travelled south to Kent to work with his mother's brother. A very large Fletcher clan existed in Cumberland, some details of which can be found on the chart below (my direct line of descent is bolded). I must admit that in the excitement of tracing the Fletchers back in time I've neglected full details of my most immediate family and still need, in many cases, to look up dates of death, etc. In addition to the families connected to the Fletchers, the following surnames are found in my mother's family tree. I would be pleased to hear from anyone sharing these interests.

Burnsland Cemetery Index, Calgary, Alberta, 1994
These data were compiled by AFHS volunteers in 1994, based on both monument and burial information. Every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, but human errors are always possible. Confirming the information with personal observation or other sources is always advisable. Basic information has been provided on this website. Burial records obtained from the City of Calgary, show a burial date in the format 23061999 (d/m/yr) When this is the only date available for an individual, it is the one used in the index. Additional information (e.g., monument inscriptions and burial information that may include exact birth and death dates, parents, spouse, etc.) may be available in some cases and can be obtained from the Projects Coordinator, Judie Riddell at safemail("projects","afhs.ab.ca","Projects Chair")

Brooksburg Cemetery
Section 36 Township 4 North, Range 11 East
Milton Township, Jefferson County, Indiana by Robert W. Scott
This cemetery is located on the Manville-Brooksburg road, just north of the main section of Brooksburg. This cemetery belongs to the Brooksburg Methodist Church, which was founded in 1891. It was probably a Bondurant family cemetery originally because there were 15 marked graves of Bondurants, all preceding the church’s founding. There are no other burials for other families before the church’s founding. The DAR shows Josephine Keel as dying in 1871, but I have not found this stone and the date may be an error. The same applies to Anna Gale, also listed by the DAR as dying in 1871. Before 1891, many Brooksburg area residents were buried at the Joyce Cemetery, just over two miles up-stream on the Indian Kentuck, or in the cemetery of the Morris Chapel M.E. Church, just upstream near the Ohio River. This transcription includes all transcriptions done by the John Paul Chapter DAR. The most recent death date in the DAR record is 1931. I have combined the many military inscriptions, which often were on separate stones, with the tombstone of the respective soldier. Any corrections are welcome as I had rain which caused difficult in reading some notes later. Completed September 15, 2002
