6.The Oxford University Museum of Natural History:
Contents Location: The museum occupies an elegant and unusual building on a site off Parks Road between the Dept of Earth Sciences and the Radcliffe Science Library. The gross floor area of the museum and off-site storage locations is around 7000 metres2 most of which is occupied by the museum itself. Access hours and restrictions: The museum is open to members of the University from 8.30 am - 5.00 p.m., Mondays to Fridays by arrangement. The museum is open to the public from 12.00 - 5.00, every day. There is a wheelchair lift to the ground floor only at present but plans are in hand for first floor access (lift in 2004). There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Staff: The Museum Director is Prof. W.J. Kennedy. Each of the four departments is headed by a Curator, who is a staff member of either the Dept. of Zoology or Earth Sciences. In addition there are 17 academic-related staff, 12 technical staff, 10 clerical staff and 10 ancilllary staff.
