Go about 2.5 miles, going thru Moscow, the cemetery will be on your right had side of the road. From Interstate 80, take the Tipton/Moscow exit, go south on X54 for about 3.5 miles. The cemetery is on your left. I, Dave Dunston, the webmaster re-walked this cemetery to update and correct any previous mistakes in July, 2001. I included this cemetery in my Muscatine County website, even though this cemetery is in Cedar County, because it is barely over the Muscatine/Cedar county line. I converted the compiled records over to html so they could be viewed on a web page. My dear friend.
I beg you to be so kind as to give me a line of introduction for my wife and daughters to the American Consul at Stuttgard, as they expect to be there next winter. I have recently painted a group of Mr. Longfellow and daughter which I think of sending to Munich.
I am now waiting for sittings from Pius IX . an order from the U.S. I like Rome more, the longer I am here. I intend to return next winter: on the 27 th we go to Venice, where I shall make some studies. I have written to Mr. Alexander telling him to send to you for his Jackson.
With love from all to Mrs. Marsh
I am, Sincerely your friend.
Geo. P. A. Healy
Hon. Geo.P. Marsh.
References in this letter:
Healy knew the American poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) from his time in Boston and painted his portrait with his daughter Edith while they were visiting Rome.

Hon. Geo. P. Marsh.
My dear friend.
We all rejoiced to learn from your favor of the 24 th that Mrs. Marsh had not suffered on her way home as far as Brest, and that you like my study for the large picture , of the President's figures; for a long time I have heard nothing that has cheered me so much as your brave words. On Monday next I send to the Exhibition at Munich, my , also a portrait of General Sherman : I hope you may see them. The Ladies of my family request me to express their
thanks for your note to the Consul at Stuttgard, to which I beg to join mine.
With a thousand pleasant memories of your kindnesses to me and mine.
I am Sincerely
Your friend.
Geo. P. A. Healy
P.S.
We hope to pass some years in Rome. And expect a sitting from the Pope before we go to Venice a week hence.
References in this letter:
General Willliam Tecumseh Sherman told Healy about a meeting held toward the end of the war, when he, General Ulysses S.Grant, and Admiral David D. Porter met with President Lincoln on board the River Queen to prepare for the coming peace. Healy began a large group portrait based on this incident in America and completed it in his studio in Rome in 1868.

Captain Baldwin died January 20, 1880. Photo taken February 18, 1997 by: Don Van Holt Engine 216, quartered since Oct. 12,1971 at 187 Union Avenue, Williamsburg, Bklyn., began life on Sept. 15, 1872 as Engine 16 in the old City of Brooklyn Fire Department at the quarters of former Eastern District Volunteer Hose Company 6, built in 1850, and which still stands today at 11 Scholes Street (Engine 216s old quarters still stands today.) The old firehouse was mentioned in the best-selling novel, "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn", which was later made into a classic movie. Engine 16 was intergrated into the FDNY on Jan. 1, 1898. On October 1, 1899, Engine 16 was renumbered to Engine 116. Fourteen years later, on January 1,1913, Engine co. 116 was renumbered Engine Co. 216, as it is known today. During the 125 years only one member's life was lost, that of Capt. William Baldwin, the first member of the Brooklyn Fire Department to be killed in the line of duty. Capt. Baldwin was killed by the falling walls of the Otto Huber Brewery on Jan. 14, 1880. A striking monument stands over the grave where Captain Baldwin was laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetary in Bushwick, Brooklyn. On or about the year 1856 the Evergreens Cememetery Corp. (718-455-5300)
