Gallery Vrijdag 4 Juni 2004 Home Party's Pics Awakenings Festival .03 Geplaatst door Chris op Dinsdag 8 Juli 2003 - 23:29 Het festival waar ik al een hele tijd naar uitkeek! De verwachtingen waren hoog, want met zo'n line-up kon het haast al niet meer mis gaan! Hoge verwachtingen zijn altijd gevaarlijk omdat het dan snel tegenviel, maar Awakenings maakte het weer helemaal waar! We waren weer terug op de plek waar het allemaal begonnen was. De plek van het eerste festival! Het was deze keer geen hittegolf, maar het weer viel mee. Tuurlijk hebben wij altijd wat te zeiken en kan het altijd beter, maar het was droog en het terrein lag er goed bij (geen modder!). Gehoord: Diego, Bart Skils, Angela Flame, Alexander Kowalski Ft. Raz O'Hara, Jeff Mills, Marco Carola, Oscar Mulero, Surgeon, Rachmad en een stukje Adam Beyer! Ik vond vooral Kowalski, Surgeon en Rachmad super!! Jeff Mills draaide ook heel vet voor een afgeladen tent, maar doordat ik tijdens die set hoorde dat Lekebusch niet zou komen en omdat de boxen kraakte heb ik er toch wat minder kunnen genieten. Al met al was het weer een heerlijke dag met heel veel leuke mensen, een supergoede sfeer, hele vette muziek!!!

Augustus was awarded the title of a pater patriae, Baetica presented him with a personification of the province a statue of pure gold weighing one hundred pounds. It adorned the Forum Augustum in Rome, recalling, on its marble base, the reason for the dedication: Imp(eratori) Caesari Augusto p(atri) p(atriae) Hispania ulterior Baetica quod beneficio eius et perpetua cura provincia pacata est auri p(ondo) C(entum).[[1]] The statue is a sign of appreciation cast in gold for benefactions which, over the previous few decades, had enabled the province to "be at peace". The cost of the material alone (32.74 kg) may well have amounted to 400,000 sesterces. Therefore the gold may be an indication of the wealth of Baetica, thanks to its natural resources, and especially to Augustus' perpetua cura as it was only the saeculum Augustum which enabled the resources of the province to be profitably exploited.

College teacher in Bend fired over creationist views By RICHARD KOE BEND - His teaching contract may not be renewed, but his faith has never been stronger as Kevin Haley, biology instructor at Central Oregon Community College, awaits God's plans for him and his family when he finishes spring quarter in June. "I'm not sure what I'll do next, but I'm optimistic that God must have something really good for me, my wife, and two teenage sons," he told the media last month. They plan to remain in Bend. Haley received regional and nationwide attention after several students and five faculty members at COCC complained last fall that he brought his religious views into the classroom and belittled women. After an investigation, Bart Queary, vice president for instruction, recommended to the college board that Haley's contract not be renewed. During the investigation, Haley lodged a complaint alleging religious discrimination. He added that the administration's recommendation undermined academic freedom guaranteed by the teaching contract. But the school's Equal Opportunity Office dismissed his action, stating that academic freedom was not the issue. The administration thought that Haley's students were deprived of an adequate education in biology. Several members of Haley's freshman biology class complained that he consistently undermined the theory of evolution while promoting the belief that life was created by God.
