Die fette Beute: sämtliche Bücher einer deutschen Krimi-Reihe, die kaum noch jemand kennt und die doch bis heute maßstabprägend geblieben ist. Der Name dieser Krimi-Reihe lautet – lautete, muß es richtig heißen – Krähen-Bücher." (Alf Meyer: Politik und Kriminalliteratur: Karl Anders und seine >Krähen-Bücher<. Porträt eines Pioniers. Erschienen in: Jahrbuch der Kriminal-Literatur 1989, Bastei Lübbe 19067, 1989, S. 113). Der Nest-Verlag wurde 1946 in Nürnberg von Karl Anders und drei Mitgesellschaftern gegründet. Anders, der 1939 nach England emigrierte, arbeitete während des Krieges bei der BBC und kehrte 1945 als Deutschlandkorrespondent der BBC zurück. Er berichtete über die "Nürnberger Prozesse" und verarbeitete seine Berichte in dem Buch "Im Nürnberger Irrgarten". Der Nest-Verlag war ein politischer Verlag mit Beiträgen zur Völkerverständigung, Vergangenheitsbewältigung und Ökonomie. Mit der Währungsreform 1948 wurde auch die Lizenzbeschränkung für Verleger durch die alliierten Kontrollmächte aufgehoben, beide Ereignisse wirkten sich einschneidend aus. Die Papierzuteilungen, die bisher vom Verlagsprogramm abhängig waren, entfielen und viele der Vorkriegsverleger konnten wieder auf Ihren Bestandskatalog zurückgreifen. Politische Bücher waren nicht mehr gefragt und der Verlag musste sich, um überleben zu können, neu orientieren um konkurrenzfähig zu sein.

THE MONSIEUR LECOQ CHRONOLOGY
by Rick Lai Emile Gaboriau (1832-1873) created Monsieur Lecoq, one of the earliest detectives in literature. Lecoq was a major influence on Sherlock Holmes, Arsene Lupin and other fictional mystery characters. Gaboriau wrote five novels and one short story about Lecoq. The author also included characters from the Lecoq series in at least five other novels. Fortune Du Boisgobey (1821-91) also wrote one novel about Lecoq.
