ABBEYFEALE Abbeyfeale Drama Group is busy rehearsing in preparation for the staging of a comedy at their new Glorach Folk Studio in Convent Street. The play, entitled "A Damsel From Dublin" was written by Thomas King Moylan. It was last staged in Abbeyfeale away back in the late fifties, and older people will remember one oft-repeated line from the play of "Up the rebels, Michael John!" that became something of a humorous catch phrase and youthful rallying call in the area for quite a while afterwards. The present production will be directed by Conleth Dillon and is set for an initial run of two weeks, beginning at the end of January. Included in the cast are Donal de Barra, Donal Woulfe, Thomas Stack, Marie Murphy, Aonghus Mac Domhnaill and Pat Rowley. The organizers of the local St Patrick's Day Parade have again requested that all clubs, groups, individuals, etc., intending to take part in the parade should notify the committee without delay. This is necessary in order to arrange proper insurance cover for the participants. Confirmation of intention to take part must be made, on or before January 25, to the secretary, Sean Broderick. St Ita's Wrenboys staged a very successful fund-raising drive during the holiday period and collected over €3,200. The money was divided between Fr John Moloney`s Mission in the Cameroon and Fr Tim Galvin`s Mission in Sudan.

ABBEYFEALE FR James Canon Neville, PP Abbeyfeale will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of his ordination on this Saturday June 22. Father James was ordained in Maynooth on June 22, 1952 and spent the first six years of his ministry working in the parish of St John's, in Seattle, USA. He returned to Ireland in 1958 and was appointed Curate in Dromin-Athlacca following a short period of temporary work in Ballyhahill-Loughill. He immediately became very involved in the social life of the community, in the GAA and Muintir na Tire, and he also established a local drama group. In 1963 Fr James was transferred to Bruff. Here again, in addition to his priestly duties, he became immersed in the local GAA Club. He helped with novel suggestions for fund-raising to pay for a new stand in the GAA field. More importantly, he concentrated on the youth structures, which bore fruit when Bruff won the county minor hurling championship in 1966. In 1973, Fr James was transferred to Foynes. Again, he became very involved with the local GAA Club and they succeeded in winning a county championship in 1973. Fr James was moved to St Paul's in Dooradoyle in 1979 and oversaw the construction of a new parish church in the Limerick suburbs. Bishop Newman finally transferred Fr James to become Parish Priest of Abbeyfeale in 1988. He was made a Canon of the Cathedral Chapter and Vicar Forane for this area of the diocese. He has introduced many new innovations to the parish, including the Pastoral Council, Eucharistic Ministers, a chapel for the Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, new amplification in the church, and the organising of parish missions and retreats. He is also spiritual director of the Legion of Mary, and maintains a very active interest in the local Fr Casey's GAA Club.

Dáil Éireann - Volume 231 - 16 November, 1967 Debate resumed on the following motion: That the Vote be referred back for reconsideration. Mr. James Tully Mr. James Tully Mr. James Tully: The Parliamentary Secretary referred to the arterial drainage of the Boyne. He is not quite as definite as he was a few months ago about the actual starting date. May I assume drainage may not start in February, 1968, as was originally stated? Perhaps if he has the information, he will give it when he comes to reply. I should like a good deal more information from the Parliamentary Secretary on this whole matter. He refers to a number of bridges, et cetera , which have to be dealt with and how expensive these things can be. He referred also to water supplies, sewage disposal systems, et cetera. While I know the Board of Works have been very careful when dealing with bridges in ensuring that they are replaced reasonably satisfactorily, there is a big problem in relation to water supplies and sewage disposal. Taking water first, it is not unknown, when a scheme is carried out over a wide area, to have the water supply systems to private houses, groups and even villages so badly affected as to become unusable. That is a very serious loss to those concerned. Would the Parliamentary Secretary tell us if his Office is responsible and, if not, who is? With regard to sewage disposal, this is a matter which would come up more relevantly under a different heading but, since the Parliamentary Secretary has referred to it, could he tell me now if there is any possibility of having a treated system of sewage disposal? It is just too bad that sizeable towns, to say nothing of individual houses and villages, are allowed to put untreated sewage into waters subsequently used by others, and sometimes for domestic purposes. There is a typical example of this in Drogheda. The sewage comes into the river and people bathe and fish further down. Surely there should be some more hygienic way of dealing with sewage? Industrial waste also goes into these rivers. Everybody is aware of the damage industrial waste has done to fish life. In some cases fish life has been completely wiped out. Perhaps the Parliamentary Secretary may be able to tell us what will happen there.

John Tinding of Holles, Dumfriesshire, A.D. 1657 ( Dumfries). "Tyning" is not
uncommon in English field names, from OE. tynen , to hedge in . Later Scottish Vital
Records show the Tinney family to be found mainly in southwest Scotland, principally in Glasgow and the shires of Wigtown, Ayr, Lanark and Renfrew. Since the early Will and Deed Indexes of Scotland show a complete lack of any early record of the family Surname in that Nation, all indications are that the family center originated either from the northern Ireland area, or via the southwest seaports centering in Cornwall County, western England.
