    Greg Gumbel Biography
A veteran of sports television for almost 30 years, Greg Gumbel recently signed a new multi-year agreement with CBS and will kick off his fourth NFL season paired with former NY Giants’ quarterback, Phil Simms, as the network’s #1 lead NFL announce team. Gumbel, along with Simms, called CBS Sports’ broadcast of Super Bowl XXXV, becoming the first network broadcaster to both call play-by-play and host a Super Bowl. During Gumbel’s first tour of duty at CBS from 1989 to 1994, he hosted the Emmy Award-winning "The NFL Today," the network’s pre-game, halftime and post-game studio show, from 1990 to 1993. In addition, he served as primetime anchor of CBS Sports’ coverage of the record-setting 1994 Olympic Winter Games from Lillehammer, Norway, and was co-anchor for the weekday morning broadcasts of the 1992 Olympic Winter Games from Albertville, France. Also the host of Major League Baseball and college football broadcasts, his play-by-play duties included regular-season and NCAA tournament college basketball, regular season and playoff NBA basketball, regular-season and post-season Major League Baseball, and College Baseball World Series championship games.

The original purpose was to have a place to store our images of plates we own. Discovering that we both had a huge gallery of images of plates we aquired over the years, we decided to catagorize them and post a resource site. It may have some incorrect information, but we research our info before labeling any plates. Besides, we live in Connecticut and know most of this first hand. Some images are from Ebay sales and may not be in our collection at this time. This is purely a recreational site and not all images represent plates currently owned. None of these are forsale, we typically buy more plates then we sell.
Thanks, Dave and Greg.

Tracking Fee
Thursday, November 6, at noon, U.S. Eastern time
What changes should the U.S. Department of Homeland Security make to its proposal to collect a fee from international students for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, or Sevis, the federal database that tracks them?
The Department of Homeland Security announced last month that it would start charging a $100 fee to international students and visiting scholars to pay for Sevis. The charge is necessary because the law that created Sevis said that fees, not federal appropriations, would bear its operating costs. The fee would pay for system maintenance and for department officers who would work with colleges to make sure that international students arrived on campuses as promised, did not drop out, and met the conditions of their student visas. Foreign students would have to pay the fee before applying for or renewing their visas.
College officials have worried that such a high fee might bar international students from poor countries. The students already must pay a $100 visa-processing fee to the Department of State and a visa-issuance fee determined by their country of origin. The officials also fear that the proposed policy would discriminate against foreign students from countries where access to credit cards and reliable mail systems is limited. Although the Homeland Security Department has said it would collect the fee, some college officials believe that the U.S. Department of State should do so when foreign students apply for visas.

he need for an athletic fee increase is not only the K-State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics' problem. It is your problem.
The athletic department must be in compliance with Title IX of the Higher Education Act. One part of this law states that the percentage of participative opportunities made available to women must match the percentage of women enrolled in school. K-State's enrollment is about 55 percent male to 45 percent female. The athletic participation is 70 percent male participation and 30 percent female participation. To increase opportunities for women, the athletic fee needs to be increased. K-State student contributions are less than half of the NCAA average of student contributions to their athletic programs. The average expenditures in the NCAA for fall of 1994 was $14.8 million. Of that, the average student contribution was $1.3 million. K-State's expenditures in fall of 1994 were $11.1 million. Of that, the student contribution was $580,000, according to the athletic department. "Compared to what students pay at other universities, I think the students get a big bang for their buck," Max Urick, athletic director, recently said to me.
