Courtesy of the Arkansas History Commission Bill Clinton was born in a place called Hope on August 19, 1946. That much of his biography is familiar to most Americans. He was actually born William Jefferson Blythe IV, but his namesake father was killed in an automobile accident three months before his birth. He was raised briefly by his grandparents while his mother received her nursing education in New Orleans. When he was four his mother Virginia married Roger Clinton and the three moved to Hot Springs. His stepfather's alcoholism forced the young boy to mature early and while a young teenager he was sometimes forced to intercede to prevent the physical abuse of his mother, though he took his stepfather's surname at age 15. Clinton excelled in public school. In 1963 he was selected as a delegate to Boys Nation where he got to shake the hand of John F. Kennedy. This ignited a passion for politics. He went on to attend Georgetown University and spent two years at Oxford on a Rhodes scholarship. He then attended Yale Law School where he met Hillary Rodham. Clinton returned to Arkansas and entered the faculty of the law school where he was soon joined by Hillary Rodham. In 1974 he challenged Republican Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt, who was regarded as invincible. Clinton garnered 48.5% of the votes, which marked him as the rising star in Arkansas politics. In October of 1975 Bill and Hillary were married.

"I want an America where family values live in our actions, not just in our speeches."
[Presidential Nomination Acceptance Speech of then Governor Clinton, Democratic National Convention - July 1992] "If a President of the United States ever lied to the American people, he should resign." [Candidate Bill Clinton, responding to a question about President Nixon , while running for the US House of Representatives in 1974.]
Impeachment, Acquittal with Rebuke,
Contempt, and finally, the "End of It."
Putting An End To It:

In return for the dropping of any criminal or civil charges against him, President Clinton agreed to a five year suspension of his Arkansas law license, the payment of a $25,000 fine and an agreed that he would not seek government reimbursement of his legal expenses. For three years this simple act of admitting that he had lied had been, and would continued to be, steadfastly avoided by President Clinton. This despite the fact that nearly no one in America believed that he had not lied. Despite also the fact that many Americans over the three years, both supporters and opponents of the President, increasingly advocated for the President to do just that. This position was based largely on a belief that if he had simply told the full truth, admitted at any point that he "lied," the incident would have more quickly faded from the public debate.

State of Birth: Arkansas
"Bill Clinton was the first "baby boomer" a person born after WWII to become President. As a teenager, Bill Clinton met then President John Kennedy. This made such an impression on the young Clinton that he decided that he wanted to be President some day. He is the only President to be a Rhodes Scholar. Once he had made up his mind, Clinton immediately started into politics, working his way into serving as State Attorney General and Governor of Arkansas. When he decided to run for President he was a "dark horse" candidate, being little known outside of Arkansas. Defeating an older and less charismatic man, Clinton was at first a very popular President. He brought lots of young and enthusiastic people into the White House. Unfortunately, many of these young advisors were not ready for the challenges that would face the Presidency. Clinton also made many poor personal choices that nearly caused his impeachment and affected his ability to perform effectively in his leadership position.

I experimented with marijuana a time or two. And I didn't like it, and I didn't inhale and never tried it again.

I tried marijuana once. I did not inhale. Drugs It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If theif heif 'is' means is and never has been, that is notthat is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement. . . . Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. I. Einführung
Clinton, William (Bill) Jefferson (*1946), 42.
