The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Commonly referred to as the Mormon Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a world-wide organization who's central mission is to invite all to "come unto Christ" and partake of his grace, without which there would be no salvation. I am enclosing a statement which I've sent to a number of people on the 'net who have written asking for such information... Restoration Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints World Headquarters: 801 West 23rd Street Independence, Missouri 64055 [USA] Telephone: (816)254-9590; fax (816)254-8650 History During the 1960's and 1970's, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the RLDS Church) experienced several dramatic changes in its theology, self-image, and beliefs. For the most part these changes, instituted by Church leaders and education officials, took the RLDS Church away from its traditional "Mormon" roots and brought it close to the "Protestant mainstream" by reflecting liberal reinterpretations fashionable in the 1960's. In February of 1981, a group of concerned Elders gathered in Independence, Missouri. Committed to the Church's traditional beliefs, these Elders formed what became known as the "Saturday Night Class." They met to prayerfully study the Scriptures and understand from God's word the ongoing situation in the RLDS Church. Prominent among these first members were Frederick O. Weddle and William S. Whenham. At first, the Class had the official blessing of RLDS officials in the Center Stake.
