The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints The LDS church, commonly known as the Mormon Church, has long had a welfare program for the benefit of its members in need. Believing that the best way to deal with the problem of needy members is not to have any, the church also strongly encourages its membership to be as self-reliant and self-dependent as possible. To further this end it provides access to church owned cannery facilities and makes large, economical bulk purchases of storage foods to sell at cost to any member with an interest in starting a personal food storage program. Most facilities will be located at one of the LDS Bishop's Storehouses located in various places around the country, but some churches will also have their own local facilities. The easiest means of finding out is simply to ask the LDS church member you know. If they don't themselves know, or you don't know any Mormons then a little phone book research will be necessary. Find your nearest local Mormon church and ask about speaking with the local Bishop of the Ward or Relief Society president. Either one of those two individuals will be able to give you the information you seek. Failing any of the above, you can also call the LDS church headquarters in Salt Lake City at 1- 800-453-3860 extension 4164. Or you can write to:

We strive to begin our day with Praise and Worship, honoring our Father in Heaven for His Holiness, His Wisdom, His Grace, and His Love. "For the grace of God which bringeth salvation to all men, hath appeared; teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."
Titus 2:11-14 Whether you are visiting us online for the first time to get to know more about our faith, have become our friends in Christ, or you are a member of the church, we invite you to progress with us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
(supposedly) by Joseph Smith This 'official history' of the early LDS Church is edited from the Utah church's viewpoint. Although the church hasn’t officially denounced this history as being written by someone other than Joseph Smith, the fact is that much of it was not written by him and most of it was put together after he was dead. The early church historians did many creative things with this history including adding prophecies attributable to Joseph Smith that had been “fulfilled” after his death. (Hmmmm... seems like the early Christians did the same thing The early historians also censored much of the material to make it more “faith promoting”. This history would still be very disturbing (although few active members have bothered to read it) in the eyes of most Mormons who are only familiar with the typical “Sunday School” sanitized version of the church’s supposed spotless history. This 7 volume set read in conjunction with the Quinn Newell books will give you a fairly accurate look at the beginnings of Mormonismfar more so then if you look to your seminary teacher, gospel doctrine class or

The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints
An Overview
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a community based on Jesus Christ the Son of God, and His works and teachings. It is our conviction that Jesus Christ organized a church during his ministry on earth. But during the following centuries many influences concerning teachings, organization and excecution of sacred ordinances led this church away from its original. After this falling away (which has been prophesied by the early apostels) it became necessary for the original church of Jesus Christ to be restored by its founder, the Savior himself. In this sense we understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the restored early church. A young man from the eastern North-Americas by the name of Joseph Smith jr. acted as the mouthpiece and tool of God for this restoration more than 160 years ago. He became a modern-day prophet and as such translated a book of holy scriptures, which stands with the Holy Bible as a testimony of God's dealings with mankind and as an another witness of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon, as this historical and religious document is called, gave us our nickname of "Mormons", which however has never been an official name for the Church. Like in ancient times, the Church today is also led by prophets and apostles. Following Joseph Smith jr., who died as a martyr for his faith, Brigham Young led the heavily persecuted Saints (thus the followers of Christ were called in ancient times, despite their imperfections) in a great treck to the west of the United States, into the Rocky Mountains to what today is called the state of Utah. There, in Salt Lake City, the Church still has its headquarters. The land, originally a desert, was made fruitful by the Mormon pioneers.

Guide to religions in the UK Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) Wednesday October 30, 2002 Background and beliefs: Founded by the American Joseph Smith in the 1830s with his revelation of the Book of Mormon. The book tells of the migration of Israelite tribes to America centuries before Christ, their experiences resembling those recounted in the Old Testament. Its principal body, based in Salt Lake City, is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Adherents are millennialist, believing that a Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be followed by a 1,000-year period of peace under his rule. Members are characterised by their order and respect for authority, church activism, strong belief in the family, and vigorous proselytising and missionary activities. Members donate a tenth of their income to the Church.
