Po wielu latach prób i badañ, prowadzonych na prze³omie XVIII i XIX wieku, uda³o mu siê przekszta³ciæ latawiec – znany w Chinach ju¿ w IV wieku p.n.e. – w szybowiec. Les grands de l'aviation -A- ADER, Clément Ingénieur français au service de l'administration des Ponts et Chaussées. Aux alentours de 1870, il conçoit entre autre un ballon. Cependant, sa principale réalisation est d'avoir effectué le premier décollage réussi de l'histoire, même si le vol qui s'en suivi fut un échec partiel puisque l'engin fit un bond d'une vingtaine de centimètres de haut seulement (sur une distance de 50 mètres), trop alourdi par son moteur à vapeur. Toutefois, grâce à l'appui du ministère de la Guerre il conçoit un deuxième et un troisième engin qui furent des échecs. Il est aussi à l'origine du mot «avion» qui est utilisé aujourd'hui pour désigner les aéronefs à voilure fixe. ALCOCK, Sir John William Aviateur ayant effectué la première traversée de l'Atlantique sans escale en 1919. (Lindbergh a effectué un voyage New-York Paris sans escale, ce qui est différent) -B- BACON, Roger Surnommé le «Docteur admirable». Il étudie à Oxford, puis à Paris. Tourné vers les sciences, certaines de ses oeuvres sont jugées suspectes et il sera emprisonné. Malgré tout, ce moine franciscain, philosophe et scientifique fut aussi enseignant. Il fut l'un des penseurs les plus influents de son époque. Il fut le premier à s'appercevoir que le calendrier Julien utilisé à l'époque comportait des erreurs. En plus de s'intéresser aux langues, aux mathématiques, à l'optique et à l'astronomie, il développa des théories sur la mécanique, en particulier pour la propulsion mécanique des bateaux, des voitures et des machines volantes. On le considère souvent comme l'inventeur de la poudre à canon même si dans les faits il n'a que repris la formules chimique de savants arabes.

The Race to Fly
By M. Robinson The race to be the first to fly was an amazing race… a race like no other. It spanned decades, circled the globe, and took many lives. The aeronautical pioneers made up the rules as they went along. There was an explosion of information. One hundred years ago aeronautical aviation was a new exciting field with groundbreaking discoveries and inventions occurring on an almost daily basis. Many people contributed individual aspects to the success of manned flight, each adding their own exquisite morsel. Early aeronaut Captain Louis Ferber (1862~1913) declared that the kite was only an anchored aeroplane, or the aeroplane an unanchored kite. He stated that the forces that operate in flying a kite are the same forces that operate in the flight of an aeroplane. There are certain connections and characteristics between the kite and the aeroplane that are inexorable. In flight both are subject to the influence of resistance, propulsion, lift and weight. In 1805, Sir George Caeley (1771~1857) realized the laterally stabilizing effect of the dihedral angle in airplane design. Caeley was the first to see that a cambered aerofoil provides more lift then a flat one. He was the first to equate the aerodynamic significance of the kite. It was Caeley who laid down the principles of heavier-than-air flight. From that point on, the interest in manned flight became an international obsession that grew by leaps and bounds over the next century. By the time the Wright Brothers joined the race there was a multitude of information available to them. The Wright’s corresponded with Chanute and the Smithsonian Institution and began to devour every bit of material they could locate on the principles of flight.

L'avion Mignet 1934
un prospectus Marocain (1954) . Né en 1934 l'avion Mignet, créa un mouvement privé et désintéressé de vulgarisation aéronautique unique au monde, construit bénévolement à des centaines d'exemplaires par des amateurs, et baptisé " Poux du Ciel " par le grand public. Si, en 1956 sur un prospectus, de la "société des avions Henri Mignet " de Casablanca on parlait de plusieurs centaines d'appareils construit par des amateurs on estime maintenant à plusieurs milliers le nombre des " Poux du ciel "ayant été construit dans le monde et notamment au Japon dés 1938. Si le premier le" HM-14" de 1934 ne pesait que 130 kg, on en construisait encore au Japon en 1954 ( d'après une "réclame" H. Mignet de l'époque ) il s'appelait le R-HM et était construit par la " new tachikata a/c co.." à Tokyo. Il avait une envergure de 9,70 mètres, un poids à vide de 400 kg pour un poids total de 700 kg. Propulsé par un moteur "Continental" de 90 CV, pour une vitesse de croisière de 180 km/h, un plafond praticable de 4000 mètres et 1000 km de vol sans atterrir.
