Personal Anthologies on CD ROM
Skip the explanation and go straight to the list of books. Here's the offer:
  • Go to the Personal Anthology page at our online store http://store.yahoo.com/samizdat/peran1.html Select up to 100 books from over 3900 available books (also listed below). I'll do all the organizing and technical work to turn your selections into a "personal anthology" on CD, custom-made for you You pay $49 for the first copy of your anthology; $19 each for additional copies I offer your anthology for sale through my online store, etc. for $19, and if people buy that CD, you earn 10% of the revenue as a royalty (paid monthly).
You can also write a brief explanation of why you chose these books for inclusion on the CD and provide a photo of yourself and an image that you feel represents the theme of your anthology (that's optional only if you feel like it). This is your opportunity
  • to have a custom-made collection of your favorite books to act as an editor (for instance, making an anthology designed for your class or family or friends), and to earn a few bucks.

Roll of Honour With the millions of casualties of the 'Great War' 1914-1918, the island of Jersey lost 862 men. The States of Jersey produced a Roll of all names and military details of the dead. An alphabetical list of those names is reproduced below, a touching record of Death's Toll of the Island's manhood and it is representative of nearly every Jersey patronymic. The Bailiff of Jersey, William Venables Vernon in November 1919, said of the Roll, "Let others that come after see to it that their names be not forgotten." This list is not necessarily exhaustive. A contemporary paper (1917) carried this report;
"" On the 10th April the States of Jersey appointed a Special Committee of their
body to compile a Roll of Honour of Jerseymen, who had given their lives for their
country, as also a Roll of those who had served in His Majesty's Forces, in the Great
War. The task imposed on the Committee was a difficult one, for Jerseymen were
serving on every front, and in every part of the world, in the Navy, in the Army and
in the Mercantile Marine; but with the ready assistance of the local Recruiting

Save the dates for Reunion '96, May 24-27. Watch your mail this fall for news about our 70th reunion.
Members of the class held their 64th mini-reunion on Friday, May 26, with a private luncheon in the Sharpe Refectory. Thirteen classmates and twelve spouses and guests attended. Before lunch, representatives of the Associated Alumni of Brown University presented a plaque to Class President Joseph Galkin for his service to the University. After the luncheon, President Galkin asked classmates to comment on their activities of the past year. One of the topics discussed was the difficulty of finding parking spaces near Brown. A suggestion was made to have the luncheon off-campus to solve the problem. However, 1996 will be our 65th reunion and we hope to attract many who cannot make it to the mini-reunions. Most of the action will be concentrated on campus events, so plan ahead to attend. Attending the luncheon were: Howard Angell Paul Thayer Bob Mawney Eleanor McAndrews Retallick Isabel MacLean Crossman Bob '32 and Rosamond Danielson Bellin Virginia Hunter Jenkins and Charles

MMSL THIOSALT BIBLIOGRAPHY
Thiosalts are inevitably generated as a by-product from processing sulphidic ores. Eventually, thiosalts contaminated effluent from the treatment ponds is discharged to the environment. Ideally, thiosalts should be degraded in the effluent treatment ponds and the sulphuric acid that is generated from the oxidation of thiosalts to sulphate can be neutralized with lime before the effluent is discharged. In reality, the breakdown of thiosalts in the treatment ponds is sufficiently slow that some of the thiosalt end up in the receiving waters. Subsequent oxidation in the river or lake by autotrophic Thiobacillus bacteria is rapid. The considerable quantity of acid that is produced could bring about acidification of aquatic environments, which might effect fish and other aquatic organisms.
