Thomas Davis (c1805) and Arabella Burchfield of Burke, Yancey, Cherokee and Graham Co, NC and Blount Co, TN
Commentary Children Researcher List Register Report ... Home I (Marty Grant) am a 4th Great Grand Nephew of Thomas Davis. Special thanks to Evelyn Tharp, and Charlene Davis and others for data shared on this family. Thomas Davis was born ca 1804/05 in Burke (now Avery) Co, NC in the Three Mile Creek area. He is a son of William Davis and Frances Carpenter . He may have been named after his alleged Uncle Thomas Davis. Thomas was apparently home with his parents for the 1810, 1820 and 1830 census, all in Burke County, NC. Thomas Davis married Arabella Burchfield on 9 Nov 1830 in Burke Co, NC (marriage was reported in newspaper, I don't have exact reference handy, but will try to track it down again). Arabella Burchfield was born ca 1811/12 in Burke Co, NC. Over the years she was listed by many name variations such as "Everilla", "Abysilla", "Avarilla", "Marilla" and others. Her surname can be spelled "Birchfield" or "Burchfield". I'm not sure what the preferred spelling is, or if both spellings are just as common. Arabella was a daughter of Robert Burchfield (1774-1860) and Elizabeth Hill (1776-1842) of Burke Co, NC and later of Blount Co, TN. Regarding the Burchfield family, I found that there was only one in all of North Carolina in 1790, and that was in Burke County "Mishh Burchfield". This must be "Michael" who was here in 1800 as well.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY Church Point River Bourgeois, Richmond County, Nova Scotia Transcription of Gravestones and Monuments Jeanne Belford This cemetery is on the south side of Route 104, directly behind the church. It is in good condition and well maintained. The transcription was completed May 19, 2000. Mary of the original gravestones and markers no longer exist. The following is a transcription of the remaining, legible gravestones. Names of the individuals that appear on the same stones are single-spaced on the page. All the rest (those which are double-spaced) have their own markers. Husbands and wives and/or their children were not always buried together or even next to one another. In many cases, they were buried a short distance from one another. May 2001 Supplement to the May 2000 Transcription: Arthur Bouchard, River Bourgeois, is responsible for the care and record keeping of the St. John the Baptist Cemetery. He has access to all the cemetery records and is pleased to provide information to 'fill in the gaps' caused by illegible gravestones, to correct entries too difficult to read initially and add additional information about the deceased which he found in the cemetery written record. I am grateful to Mr. Bouchard for his assistance. Column Five has been added to this document to incorporate Mr. Bouchard's supplement to the original transcription. If you intend to print this document, set your printer to Landscape Mode to insure that you receive the entire content.

Returning Men of Battery E, 120th Field Artillery
Formerly Troop I, First Wisconsin Cavalry
All but 10 of the enlisted men of the original Troop I, First Wisconsin Cavalry, as its membership stood during the period it was at Camp Douglas, are returning with Battery E, 120th Field Artillery, which landed at Boston Sunday.
Of the three officers who went out of Stevens Point with the troop and were with it during its stay at Camp Douglas, only one, Lieut. Lyman PARK, is still with the unit. Capt. C. W. SWAN resigned his commission after the re-organization at Camp MacArthur and returned home, while Lieut. Russell MOEN has, since shortly after the first of the year, been attached to Battery F of the same battalion. Lieut. MOEN, however, is expected to be with the Stevens Point men when they return home the latter part of this month.
The names of all old Troop I men who are still with Battery E are believed to be contained in the following list revised from the records kept by Mrs. N. A. WEEK and Miss Ellida MOEN:

INFORMATION This page contains an alphabetical listing of those buried at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. The cemetery, located in Shenandoah Heights, was established by the Girardville Parish of St. Vincent and later acquired by St. George's parish of Shenandoah. In 1929, a breathtaking shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes was built thanks to a donation from Alexander Siemianis. It stands today as a memorial to Alexander, his brother Andrew, and sister Victoria Siemianis. CREDITS Here's our team: JAY ZANE Compiled by: JAY ZANE
