She takes up the post of governess at Thornfield, falls in love with Mr. Rochester, and discovers the impediment to their lawful marriage in a story that transcends melodrama to portray a woman's passionate search for a wider and richer life than Victorian society traditionally allowed. With a heroine full of yearning, the dangerous secrets she encounters, and the choices she finally makes, Charlotte Bronte's innovative and enduring romantic novel continues to engage and provoke readers. Synopsis Orphaned at an early age, Jane Eyre leads a lonely life until she finds work as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets the mysterious Mr. Rochester and sees a ghostly woman who roams the halls by night. This is a story of passionate love, travail and final triumph. The relationship between the heroine and Mr. Rochester is only one episode, albeit the most important, in a detailed fictional autobiography in which the author transmuted her own experience into high art. In this work the plucky heroine is outwardly of plain appearance, but possesses an indomitable spirit, a sharp wit and great courage. She is forced to battle against the exigencies of a cruel guardian, a harsh employer and a rigid social order which circumscribes her life and position.

    I would recommend this book mostly to women/girls between the ages of 17-50 because this story deals with the trouble girls go through and it deals with five girls living in the household, to which we can relate. The daughters were not that old, yet they were mature for their age. Teens will enjoy it because we all go through these teen stages of boys, and women can relate because of the maturity level that is in this story.
    One literary device that was used in the story was analogy. It is used to describe two characters (Elizabeth and Darcy) that are alike by comparing them. We are able to see their differences, but along with it their common interests start to show. For example, they both come from a different social background and yet are both intelligent, and have a tendency to judge harshly.

    (from Wuthering Heights created imaginary worlds - perhaps inspired by Jonathan Swift 's Gulliver's Travels (1726). Emily and Anne created their own Gondal saga, and Bramwell and Charlotte recorded their stories about the kingdom of Angria in minute notebooks. After failing as a paiter and writer, Branwell took to drink and opium, worked then as a tutor and assistant clerk to a railway company. In 1842 he was dismissed and joined his sister Anne at Thorp Green Hall as a tutor. His affair with his employer's wife ended disastrously. He returned to Haworth in 1845, where he rapidly declined and died three years later.

    ~ Philippians 4:8 ~ or many years, I have enjoyed the company of Charlotte Bronte. Even though she died over a hundred years ago, her voice did not. Her voice can be heard in the poetry she wrote, and in the novels she penned.
    Among her novels, 'Jane Eyre' is, by far, her most well known work. 'Jane Eyre' 'Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre' . Ciran (pronounced kee-ran) Hinds's portrayal of Mr. Rochester was very well acted, as was Samantha Morton's Jane Eyre. However, Charlotte Bronte's novel is more than just a good story. It is a morality lesson that people of all generations can learn from. In this age of "throw away marriages", Charlotte's words still echo from the past: "Suddenly he [Mr. Rochester] turned away, with an inarticulate exclamation, full of passionate emotion of some kind; he walked fast through the room and came back; he stooped towards me as if to kiss me; but I remembered caresses were now forbidden. I turned my face away and put his aside.

    The Bronte Sisters
    Charlotte, Anne, and Emily Bronte were three sisters who all wrote poetry and novels. Charlotte and Emily, in particular, have had an important influence on English literature.
    The Bronte Family
    The parents of the Bronte sisters were Patrick Bronte, born in 1777 in Ireland, and Maria Branwell, born in Cornwall in 1783. They were married in 1812. Patrick, who received a degree from Cambridge, was a clergyman. Both of the Bronte parents had an interest in literature. Patrick published unremarkable volumes of prose and poetry, and Maria's unpublished writings show some literary talent. They had six children, five girls and one boy, who were born between 1813 and 1820. Patrick was appointed the curate at Howarth in Yorkshire, where the Bronte children grew up. Located on the Yorkshire moors, this setting was to have a great influence on the sisters' later writing. Maria died in 1821, and three years later, the four older girls, Maria, Elizabeth, Charlotte, and Emily, were sent to boarding school. The conditions there were harsh, and the girls were very unhappy. Charlotte later used the boarding school as a model for Lowood in Jane Eyre . The two oldest sisters died there, and Charlotte and Emily returned to Howarth.
