DIGITAL BIBLIOPHILES
Books for Comfort, Sharing and Bedtime Reading
by the Digital Bookworm, HOST Comp Bob
Greetings Digital Bibliophiles! When last we chatted, your adventurous Digital Bookworm was deep in the woods of Virginia. When I returned, I was sitting on the couch, pulling off my 21st century buckskins and ran smack into my wonderful wife's wagging finger. She firmly stated, "OK blazing muskets are marvelous; so are streaking spaceships and War Thoats. (If you don't understand what a Thoat is run don't walk and download all the Mars books in the Palm Fiction Library by Edgar Rice Burroughs! Start with A Princess of Mars.) And I know how you love to saber fence! But there are folks out there with children you know!"
Well my good audience, your Digital Bookworm can take a hint even one this thinly veiled. So off to my keyboard I trotted. As I worked away on this week's Palm Reader Books, I remembered the influence J.M. Barrie and specifically Peter Pan had on my family. My father was an Army aviator as was my stepfather. I remembered a story about my stepfather and Peter Pan. His interest in Peter Pan as a child influenced his choice of career as an Army aviator (no longer an Army aviator, he is still a helicopter pilot). He is one of the few folks I know who was like a runner on starting blocks each day going to work quite probably because his parents took the time to read a story to him. Hmm kinda makes sense doesn't it?
Your Digital Bookworm has made it easy on parents. Download these three books, stick 'em on your PDA and delight the toddlers out there with your technical savvy. Who knows, you might be influencing some future aviators.
