New Zealand Rheumatology Association Who are we? The New Zealand Rheumatology Association (NZRA) is the organisation that represents the rheumatologists of New Zealand. Our main function is to promote and maintain the standards of rheumatology practised in New Zealand. We do this in a number of ways.
  • By working with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians to oversee the training of rheumatologists. By providing continuing medical education to rheumatologists in the form of the NZRA Annual Scientific Meeting. By lobbying to improve the access of rheumatology patients to rheumatology services and treatments.
  • The NZRA is a non-profit organisation.
Current Office Bearers. President: Dr Sue Rudge Honorary Secretary: Dr Andrew Harrison Treasurer: Dr Raoul Stuart
    Why the willow?
The willow tree you see above is the symbol of the NZRA. The latin for the willow is salix , from which we get the word "salicylates"; a group of compounds that includes aspirin, the first non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent to be used to treat arthritis. We share this symbol with our close colleagues the Australian Rheumatology Association
