The Department of biochemistry offers graduate and postdoctoral training in a wide range disciplines in modern biochemistry.
http://www.cwru.edu/med/biochemistry/
B iochemistry is the study of the molecular basis of cellular function. It has evolved into the common language for translating the advances of molecular genetics into cellular and chemical terms. Biochemists study a broad range of cellular functions from gene transcription to the structure and function of macromolecules.
The CWRU Biochemistry Department is located in the School of Medicine. The Department offers programs of study leading to the BA, BS, MS, PhD and MD/PhD degrees. The Department is an active center of biochemical research and offers comprehensive and flexible training, due to the broad research experience of its faculty. View our online brochure . MacMolecule2 and PCMolecule2
Announcing MacMolecule2 and PCMolecule2 Software for Molecular Graphics
MacMolecule2 (MacOS) and PCMolecule2 (Windows95 and Windows NT) are molecular visualization programs designed for students/teachers in chemistry, biology, biochemistry and related fields. Both programs render molecules from data files in our native or Brookhaven PDB format. Both programs are remarkable for ease of use, speed of display/rotation of very large molecules, and very high quality of visualizations. PCMolecule2 and MacMolecule2 contain features for educational use that are unique in the molecular graphics arena, including search-based atom selection, view-saving, and view-annotation. More Information
Example
MacMolecule2 Lite
MacMolecule2 Lite is a freeware successor to our MacMolecule 1.0, MacMolecule1.5, and MacMolecule 1.7 programs. It is a scaled-down version of the fully functional MacMolecule2 software. This program has the same ease of use, speed of display/rotation of very large molecules, and very high quality of visualizations, but lacks the special features for search-based atom selection, view-saving, and view-annotation. MacMolecule2 Lite currently has the ability to open files created specifically for MacMolecule2/PCMolecule2 or Protein Data Bank format files. Different versions of the program are available for PowerMac and non-PowerMac computers. You can

Biochemistry
Course Description
Biochemistry (CHM 341) is a traditional upper-division course for science majors (chemistry and biology). Finding an appropriate text for a one-semester course that must be both deep and broad is a challenge. Of the many excellent, colorful, and massive texts available, I use Lehninger, Nelson, and Cox. The information content is less encyclopedic than others, but I like the pedagogical style. Though I've taught this course seven times, the lab curriculum continues to evolve. By now I think I'm getting pretty close to a satisfactory set of exercises. I've separated my discussion into two groups: those exercises I like and will continue to use and those that I have tried but, for various reasons, have not kept. Below are my descriptions of each exercise with comments about their good and bad points. I would appreciate your comments and welcome your questions. (Parenthetically, a big hurdle to setting up biochemistry exercises is the cost of instrumentation, in my case, as exemplified by spectrophotometers and pH meters. For those of you with more time and manual dexterity than cash, may I suggest a laboratory instructional system known as LIMSport . This system, designed by

Glossaries in genetics and genomics, molecular biology and biochemistry, postgenomics, biotechnology and bioinformatics (including proteomics)and medical genomics from Science Magazine Online.
http://www.sciencemag.org/feature/plus/sfg/education/glossaries.shtml
The rapid changes afoot in genomics, bioinformatics, and gene medicine are forcing scientists, policymakers, and the public alike to grapple with some unfamiliar terminology. The Web, fortunately, offers a rich supply of online glossaries and dictionaries to help make sense of it all. A bit too rich, in fact; to narrow down the choices, we've gathered on this page some of the better online glossaries out there. We've awarded a rosette ( ) to the top sites in selected categories, and a star ( ) to denote additional standout resources. In conferring these rankings, we've tended to favor comprehensive sites that make good use of the Web, through functionality such as internal hyperlinking of related terms. (Those not so honored are still excellent, however, and are well worth a visit.) Talking Glossary of Genetic Terms (from the National Human Genome Research Institute
Although not the most comprehensive of the many online genomics glossaries, the NHGRI's entry is the best-known, the most accessible, and ultimately the most fun. You can search or browse a list of 188 terms in the database, each linked to a cogent definition, related terms, and, in some cases, illustrations. What gives this resource extra interest, though, are accompanying streaming-audio elaborations, each a minute or so in length, by various scientists (here's an example, for the term
