Zambia Information Climate: Although Zambia lies in the Tropics, the height of the plateau ensures that the climate is seldom unpleasant. There are 3 distinct seasons: the rainy season from December to April, the cool dry season from October to December and the dry winter season from May to September. The rainfall pattern over Zambia is similar over the whole country, but the amount varies from area to area. In the north the rainfall is over 1,200mm per year, decreasing to the south where it is 700mm a year. Entry Formalities: All visitors must carry a valid passport. Foreign visitors may require a visa. Please check these formalities before you travel. US passport holders generally are exempt from the visa fee if an overnight is spent in Zambia . This applies as long as all passport details have been pre registered with the Zambian authorities at the point of entry. Health Requirements: It is important to take anti malaria precautions. Please check with your physician as to the correct prophylactics to be taken. An insect repellent cream or spray during the summer months is a good idea. Swimming should be confined to swimming pools where the water is safe.
