The Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature
is given to the fantasy novel, multi-volume, or single-author story collection for adults published during the previous year that best exemplifies "the spirit of the Inklings". Reissues (such as paperback editions) are eligible if no earlier edition was a finalist. Books from a series are eligible if they stand on their own; otherwise, the series is eligible the year its final volume appears.
The Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature honors books for younger readers (from "Young Adults" to picture books for beginning readers), in the tradition of The Hobbit or The Chronicles of Narnia . Rules for eligibility are otherwise the same as for the Adult Literature award. The question of which award a borderline book is best suited for will be decided by consensus of the committees.
The Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies is given to books on Tolkien, Lewis, and/or Williams that make significant contributions to Inklings scholarship. For this award, books first published during the last three years are eligible, including finalists for previous years.

    ASSIGNMENT #4
LIBRARY VISIT: YA SPACE/AREA EVALUATION (May be done individually or in a group of up to 5 students)
Report Due: WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6 For the young adult librarian or teacher-librarian, the library space allocated for young adult materials and young adults is, in a sense, the librarian’s “grand stage” or “blank canvas.” Of course, it is true that, in some libraries, this designated teen space can be quite constricted and painfully unwieldy, but, nevertheless, it is still possible for a library and librarian to turn this teen space into something special by exercising a bit of creativity and ingenuity—and, possibly, by enlisting the support of skilled and interested assistants (including teens). For this assignment, you are being asked to don your private investigator’s cap and make some careful observations “in the field.”

Children and Young Adult Literature on the Internet: an Introduction Ruth Kinnersley Abstract This presentation is intended to introduce some Internet sites related to literature for children and young adults, and to provide a sampling of the types of sites which are available. Guides to children's and young adult literature on the web; sites which contain full-text, reviews, or bibliographies of children's literature; teaching activities; and general sites for kids which include children's and young adult literature are examined. Those who are interested in Internet-based teaching activities, or ideas for the use of children's and young adult literature in the classroom, would find this presentation useful. Introduction
In selecting sites for this presentation, a number of factors were taken into consideration: comprehensiveness of a site (the depth and/or breadth of material related to children's literature), how well the site is maintained and updated, who created or maintains the site, and individual features, such as unique lists, chat areas, and search engines.
