War against terror SANA'A, Yemen (CNN) An explosion tore through a government compound in Yemen's eastern city of Marib on Friday, but there were no reports of casualties, officials said. The blast caused minor damage at the complex which includes the provincial governor's headquarters and all major government offices. Only security guards were at the site at the time. The area is an al Qaeda stronghold in Yemen, the ancestral home of Osama bin Laden. Earlier this month, the CIA used an unmanned Predator aircraft to fire a missile at a car carrying six suspected members of al Qaeda outside Marib in northwestern Yemen. Everyone in the car was killed, including al Qaeda chief Abu Ali, also known as Qaed Senyan al-Harthi, a former bin Laden security guard who was believed to have played a major role in the October 2000 attack on the destroyer USS Cole that killed 17 sailors. That missile attack riled Yemeni opposition groups, who said it was a violation of the country's sovereignty.
