  • ABOUT HOMELESSNESS IN QUINCY
  • The City of Quincy has over 80,000 residents and is directly south of Boston. As part of the greater Boston area, Quincy has been impacted by the reality of homelessness. However, contrary to popular belief, most of the homeless clients do not come from Boston. Of the unduplicated 1,500 clients served at Father Bill’s Place, the majority of them come from the Quincy/South Shore area. The reasons for homelessness are complex and varied. Significant factors include lack of affordable housing, unemployment or under-employment, mental health and substance abuse and the inability to access appropriate services.

Women in Ancient Egyptian Religion, Part II
The Divine Adoratrice and God's Wife of Amun
in the Third Intermediate Period
By Marie Parsons
One of the highest ranks a woman could attain in a cult of the god was the position known as God’s Wife . Another high temple rank for women was Divine Adoratrice, which in the th Dynasty was sometimes held by women of high status at court, like the mother of the queen, or by the wife of the high priest in the Amun cult at Karnak The title of God’s Wife was originally held by a King’s daughter who was destined to become queen. If she died before her father, then both title and heir apparent were transferred to another daughter of the king. The title was passed from mother to daughter, and both could wear it simultaneously, as did Hatshepsut and her daughter Neferure. It was abandoned during the Amarna period, when Tiy and Nefertiti became queens, though neither was of royal blood. The title was revived in the th Dynasty , when the wives of Ramesses I and Seti I were each called "Divine Wife of Amun," but they were not daughters of kings. None of the wives of

Iraq info When 45 Marin County, California women were photographed on November 12, 2002, forming the word PEACE with their naked bodies, it struck a deep chord around the world. Our exposure of the vulnerable human flesh we all share has created a powerful statement against the naked aggression of our country’s policies. More than 170 nude and clothed pro-peace actions have since taken place across the U.S. and around the world. Baring Witness-style actions are popping up all over the world in several related causes, such as protests against GMO crops, the WTO and the FTAA. See the Photo Album Baring Witness has become a global political tool that simply spells a word or words with nude or clothed human bodies, which attracts uniquely supportive media coverage. Access to the media is critical in educating, informing, increasing awareness, and gaining support.
Our political focus is to increase voter registration in the United States by spelling the word "VOTE"

A woman's place is in the struggle: IWD and the birth of women workers' struggle
Although you wouldn't guess it from casting a look over the range of government-sponsored events and $40-a-head breakfasts with the local who's who to celebrate this year's International Women's Day, it is a day with very different origins. The efforts of socialists to organise working women to struggle for their rights in the early years of the 20th century stood sharply counterposed to the work of feminists from the property-owning classes. The differences between these opposing wings of feminism were best reflected in the campaign for the right to vote. The vast majority of unskilled workers men and women in England, France and Germany could not vote in the early 1900s. The suffrage movement in western Europe wasn't interested in fighting to give votes to either working-class women or men. They argued that only those with property should have the right to vote, and campaigned for a limited extension of suffrage to include propertied women. Socialist feminists, on the other hand, campaigned for universal suffrage, seeing it as a means to strengthen the working-class movement as a whole and at the same time improve the position of women.
