Workplace sins
Who doesn't want to get rich, get a promotion get the fattest pay check, have people praising you all the time. you will agree that today everyone's running this rat race and women are included in this too. we want all that our hearts desire in a shortest possible time who has the time to wait.. you may be a thorough professional but you are a human being after all which is prone to these sins Lazy attitude Those people who feel they will get away by doing less are the most likely persons to fall prey to this sin. These persons believe by avoiding work they prove they are smarter than their boss. sadly these persons don't last that long in a company and are fired soon. Even if they are not fired they are never given any responsibilities as they're deemed incapable of handling a challenging assignments. Well this certainly has profound repercussions in your personal life too as it's become a habit. You stop believing in your own capabilities.

http://www.west2k.com/wpdocs/q320.htm
Differences In Innate Work Skills
Between Men And Women?
I seem to remember from my days in college that we studied personnel administration and that this subject arose: Are there are differences in innate work skills between men and women? Is there empirical evidence that suggests that women are better at work tasks which require great attention to detail? Can it be said that women perform tasks of a tedious nature better than men? Thanks for any light you can shed on this subject. Signed, Wondering Dear Wondering: Why do you ask: are women better at work tasks that require great attention to detail? If I tell you yes, are you going to assign women to the detailed work and conversely assign men to the more creative managerial task? Assign women to the drudgery of keeping records, posting accounts, and place men in supervisory positions? Women stereotypically are considered to be more attentive to relationships and men to task accomplishment. Under this premise, women are more emotional and men more rational. Women are dependent. Men independent. Women submissive, passive, and have learned helplessness. Men are competitive, risk-takers, and aggressive. Women in the workplace are more hesitant to voice their ideas. Men interrupt and are listened to more. Masculine values are preferred in a competitive world; they put the organization first. Anger and frustration are the emotions most often expressed in the world of management, according to Alice Sargent's The Androgynous Manager, AMACOM, 1981.

I am a 30 year old blind woman who has recently decided to become employed and stop living off the meager amount allotted to me by the government. I was lucky enough because of my disability to be eligible for a grant for a vocational course to learn Microsoft Office. However, the head of the school put me off for nearly two years, apparently afraid that I would fall on my face immediately upon entering his building and sue him or something. After finally talking to his superiors and hinting at a discrimination lawsuit, I was allowed to attend and passed the course with no problems. My question for all of you is: Is there any way for me to politely address the unexpressed doubts of the interviewers without causing them to feel attacked? What do you say when you are part way through an interview and you get the distinct feeling that your minority status is standing firmly in the way of the interviewer's ability to consider your qualifications for the job? As many as 80 percent of blind people are reported to be unemployed. I used to attribute this figure primarily to our lazyness or, in some cases, lack of social skills. After facing so much discrimination from people who mean well but are unimaginative and afraid, I am starting to better understand the problem.

Let's face it, even though more women have entered the paid work force, they are still the majority of those who take care of the home and the children. In the words of Gloria Steinem, "have you ever heard a man ask advice on how to combine a career and child rearing"?

Yet in a work culture built around a male norm, there is still a stigma attached to motherhood. The assumption is that women with family responsibilities cannot be relied upon. The objective of any recruitment process, though, should be to find the most suitable person for the job in terms of experience, skills, aptitude and qualifications. When I was interviewed for a job last year, I was asked what notice I needed to give my employer. I said I didn't need to give any, since I was on maternity leave. 'So you have a baby?' the interviewer asked, aghast. Then followed a string of questions, including whether I had made childcare arrangements. I suddenly felt as if I had to give reassurances that I could cope. The interview, which until then had gone well, ended with an ominous, 'We'll call you.' I didn't get the job and I now think it was the baby that put a spanner in the works. I didn't get the job and I now think that it was the baby that put a spanner in the works 'Prospective employers are likely to be discriminating about your ability to comply with the demands of the job if they ask whether you have any children or what childcare arrangements you have made,' says Catherine Rogan, a legal adviser at Working Families. Sarah King, a legal officer at the Maternity Alliance cautions: 'If those sorts of questions are being asked at the interview, already alarm bells should be ringing.'

It is about increasing focus and decreasing interference. Clutter (n) 1. a crowded or confused mass or collection. 2. interfering echoes visible on a radar screen caused by reflection from objects other than the target.
- Webster's Dictionary Someone mentions "clutter." Close your eyes. What do you see? If you're like most, the image closely reflects Webster's first definition. Clutter equals junk. It's stuff that's all mixed up. Although valid, this illustration is not complete, as it depicts only what clutter is without considering what it does. It portrays clutter as passive, without consequence. Yet clutter does have repercussions. It impacts your life. As articulated in Webster's latter definition, it interferes. Clutter diminishes clarity. It occupies space, both physical and mental. It impedes movement and progress, and detracts from efficiency and effectiveness.

http://www.worknwoman.com/aboutus.html
About Us Women's contributions to society, culture, morality, spirituality and the advancement of knowledge have rarely been recognized, at least in Western cultures. At various times women have been considered ineducable, incapable of understanding business or politics, too morally weak to govern their own impulses, devoid of a soul, inherently evil. All that despite our long history of working side-by-side with men to grow human civilizations. Women's work has always been the world's work, whether it is raising and nurturing our children, securing food, earning a paycheck, pursuing a career, pursuing creative outlets or some combination of these. Focusing on women and their work...all aspects of their work...then, is what these sites are about. We're not here to push an agenda, unless you consider respect for women and their capabilities as an agenda. In that case, then yeah, we've got a point to make...

  • Introduction
The position of women has been a subject of considerable interest in recent decades. In all societies, particularly in the West, there has been a rethinking of the position accorded to women in all spheres of activity. This has resulted in a significant change in the role played by women in social, economic and even political life. This reappraisal has also touched on the question of the position accorded to women in the main religious traditions of the world. In Christian countries the issue of the ordination of women has become a highly controversial topic, and some Churches are facing the prospect of dissension, and even schism, on this question. It is therefore opportune to consider the place accorded to women in Buddhism. anicca ) still flourishes in Sri Lanka. There is perhaps a lesson here on the difficulty of perpetuating a Buddhist institution which has to be based on human endeavor of a high quality, than in looking after and venerating a non-human object, which is unfortunately all too common with many Buddhists.
