Fishing in North Dakota
Walleye
Best walleye fishing is found on the Missouri River system and Devils Lake. On the Missouri River, Lakes Sakakawea and Oahe both produce good catches of walleye, as does the river itself. The Missouri River system offers many access points. Perch
Devils Lake is renowned for its perch fishery. Catches of 1 pound-plus fish are not uncommon. The state record, 2 pounds 15 ounces, was taken there in 1982. Paddlefish
The confluence of the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers provides the best paddle fishing in the state. Paddlefish anglers must purchase a tag (one per season) available from the game and fish office in Bismarck and most license vendors in Williams and McKenzie counties. Chinook Salmon
Lake Sakakawea's state record chinook, 31 pounds 2 ounces, was taken at the Garrison Dam Tailrace just below Lake Sakakawea itself. Spring and fall are best for salmon fishing. Catfish
Best catfishing is found on the Red River along the Minnesota-North Dakota border. The Red River Angler's Guide provides useful information on public access areas. Other good catfish waters are the Garrison Dam Tailrace directly below Lake Sakakawea and Lake Tschida in southwestern part of the state.

V Costa Rica protects nearly 25 percent of its national territories in national parks and wildlife preserves, and these protected areas are home to many mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. However, television documentaries, magazines articles and the tourism industry can create unrealistic expectations in travelers. Loss of habitat due to deforestation, poaching by hunters, and urban sprawl mean sighting large mammals in Costa Rica is extremely rare. That said, here are some of the wildlife visitors to Costa Rica commonly see.
Howler monkeys
Howler monkeys live in groups in Costa Rica's lowland forests. Each troop has its own territory which it defends and where it feeds. They defend their territory by using their loud voices. Howler monkeys eat flowers, fruits and seeds. Females have one infant at a time, which can often be seen clinging to its mother.

It is a three hour journey by road from Sandakan and it branches off to Sukau along the Sandakan-Lahad Datu road. Alternatively, a boat journey can be taken. From the road to Sukau, there is a side-road turning right which takes the visitor across a very interesting forest reserve. more info

66. Wildlife - General Info

http://www.cfr.msstate.edu/wildlife/generalinfo.htm
The United States has abundant and diverse wildlife and fisheries resources. White-tailed deer, wild turkey, waterfowl, numerous small game and non-game species, largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish and catfish are enjoyed by public users in and outside of Mississippi. These natural resources and their management are critically important ecologically, socially and economically. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at Mississippi State University is committed to addressing the educational and research needs to ensure sustainable management of the diverse wildlife and fisheries resources, both in the private and public sectors. Such a mission requires sound knowledge of wildlife and fisheries populations, habitats and societal priorities for use, which in turn requires knowledgeable and technically competent individuals. The Department offers an undergraduate major in Wildlife and Fisheries Science that provides students with a curriculum that encompasses biology, ecology, social sciences, natural resources management, computer science, mathematics, and other contemporary educational needs for future natural resources professionals. The curriculum prepares students for careers in natural resource professions within private, federal or state wildlife and fisheries sectors, and ensures that, upon graduation, students are eligible for employment or post-graduate study. Additionally, the Department maintains a nationally recognized research program that addresses ecology, science and practical wildlife management and policy issues. Research information is distributed through active extension and continuing education programs.

Populations that are threatened or nonexistent elsewhere in New York State, such as tiger salamanders and hognosed snakes, appear to be thriving at BNL. In 2002, BNL birding enthusiasts were the first to document a summer tanager nesting in New York State. http://www.wildlife-museum.org/generalinfo/geninfo.html
Lindsay Wildlife Museum is a place where people connect with wildlife and learn about the natural world. The museum's 8,000 square-foot exhibit hall is filled with over 50 species of live, non-releasable native wild animals, a learning theatre and a discovery room with hands-on opportunities for children. In the museum's wildlife hospital one of the largest and oldest wildlife rehabilitation centers in the United States volunteers treat nearly 6,000 injured or orphaned animals every year. Some animals that cannot be returned to their natural home in the wild become part of the museum's live collection. They are cared for daily by teams of volunteers and they play an important role as ambassadors for their species. The museum is surrounded by demonstration gardens that reflect the overall theme of living with nature. Four of the gardens feature plant communities representing natural habitats in Contra Costa County. A wildlife garden contains nectar and fruit-producing plants. Drought-tolerant plants with colorful flowers are the focus of another garden. Deer-resistant plants, an oak woodland and a meadow are additional highlights. The gardens are maintained without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. A complete plant list is available upon request.

Wildlife in Buffalo Grove
Information about some of the wildlife species common to our area is available through the photo links at right. The majority of wild animals you will see in Buffalo Grove are typical throughout both Lake and Cook Counties. Some of the most common ones are a variety of birds, squirrels, opossums, raccoons, and woodchucks. On occasion, you might see a white-tailed deer, a red fox, or a coyote. All of these animals (with the exception of some bird species) are protected under the Illinois Wildlife Code. As our local towns and communities expand, these animals are running out of natural habitat. The animals you encounter typically are very timid, and will look for the easiest and fastest way to get away from you. As an informed resident, you can become familiar with their behaviors and learn ways to discourage them from living on your property or in your residence. By doing so we can successfully co-exist with the wildlife in our community. The State of Illinois requires a special nuisance animal permit for anyone who wishes to trap wildlife. Since the Village of Buffalo Grove does not have a separately funded and trained animal control department, the Village has not obtained a State of Illinois Nuisance Animal Permit. At this time, we utilize private agencies with the state permits to ensure that all wildlife are humanely trapped and safely relocated. The police department has a list of animal control companies that we would be happy to provide to you. These companies do have the necessary permits to trap and relocate wild animals, however it will be at a cost to you. If you wish to obtain information off of this list, please call our non-emergency number (847-459-2560) and ask to speak with a Community Service Officer or Desk Officer.
