West Virginia School of Readers Responsible Student Program (RSP) In compliance with West Virginia Safe Schools Act of 1995, McNinch Elementary has chosen the Responsible Student Program. The Responsible Student Program encourages the interaction of teachers, parents, and students in making important decisions to maintain a positive and safe educational environment. This is done through development of the following: SCHOOL STANDARDS, UNITS of INSTRUCTION to teach the standards, and REWARDS for following the standards. The entire program is designed to foster the learning process and encourage students to take an active part in their own education. Our RSP program is called P.R.I.D.E. : Pupils Reaching Independent Decisions Effectively. The PRIDE program is not a discipline program. It is designed to teach responsible behaviors that will help the student at school and in the community. Our PRIDE program was validated by the West Virginia State Department of Education during the 1995-1996 school year.
