... Report of the Head Start 2010 National Advisory Panel The Hat is where it's at: National PTA Joins the NEA's 2004 Read Across America Celebration! To accomplish this mass bedecking, NEA is encouraging reading events all across the country where groups who typically wear hats for their profession or for fun can exchange their regular hats for a reading hat and spend time reading to or with children. Picture coal miners in a West Virginia mine, cowboys at a Kansas City rodeo, chefs in a famed Louisiana restaurant, auto workers at a Tennessee Saturn plant all changing their own headgear to be ready for reading on March 2. This is a great opportunity for PTAs to invite parents and community members into classrooms to talk about the different hats they wear and the role reading plays in their lives.
