355 items Access: Open Alexander Trocchi was a Scottish author who was better known as an eccentric than as an author. He attended the University of Glasgow from 1942-1943 and from 1946-1950, and served in the Royal Navy from 1943-1946. Trocchi began writing poetry and prose in the late 1940's, and by the early 1950's was an established member of the artistic avant-garde. With Richard Seaver and Austryn Wainhouse he edited Merlin a literary magazine that published Ionesco, Genet, Beckett, Creeley, Sartre, and Miller, for seven issues from 1952-1955. He was also an editor of Paris Quarterly from 1952-1955 and of Moving Times , which published work by William S. Burroughs, Trocchi, and Jeff Nittall. Trocchi's association with Merlin led to his collaboration with Maurice Girodias at Olympia Press. Throughout the 1950's and 1960's, Trocchi helped Girodias publish books, wrote catalog copy, and contributed a large number of pornographic writings, including Helen and Desire The Carnal Days of Helen Seferis White Thighs Vol. 5 of My Life and Loves by Frank Harris

Necrology
Nathan Eakin first began the Gaylord Music Library Necrology file as a card file in the mid-1980s. ( Inquiries concerning this information are welcome.) In 1991, the project moved to a word processing file and in 1995, became available as a web page. The column published in the Music Library Association's journal, Notes , called the Necrology Index , is extracted from this Necrology file. The goal is to report what appears in the current music media as it arrives in Gaylord Music Library. We attempt to maintain this file daily. (The "Last update:" date below refers to updates to this page only Since death notices often contain conflicting dates, ages, and name forms, all are reported. Alternate name spellings are listed in square brackets. Citations follow the data they have provided.

Since then she has written 17 novels, many of which are influenced by her religious views (she converted to Roman Catholicism in the early 1950's) and most of which have been well-received by public and critics. Several of her novels have been adapted for the stage, film, and television, the best-known being The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1961) which appeared on Broadway and in a film version. Currently residing in Rome, Spark continues to enjoy a successful writing career.

In addition to her MLS, she holds an MA in comparative literature. Abstract This article discusses the collaboration between the Libraries and the Freshman Seminar Program at Washington State University Many goals related to information literacy competencies as defined by the library and higher education associations are met through this partnership. The librarians have an active role with the seminars and also take part in the peer facilitator training process.
    Introduction
Anyone who has taught or participated in a library instruction session knows that teaching students research skills without a specific context is usually a waste of time. Without a particular assignment or project, students are not motivated to learn and often do not come away with a clear understanding of what resources the library can offer. Working with a freshman seminar over the course of a semester has been rewarding for the students, who have learned both concrete research skills and higher order critical thinking and information literacy skills, and also for the librarians. Playing a part in the training process for the undergraduate students who actually deliver the freshman seminar has been another successful venture.

    Our Mission
County law libraries in Washington State were established in 1919 by RCW 27.24 to provide access to legal information to the courts and the bar, and also to the public in counties which have the staff available to assist the public. It is our collective mission to provide the best possible service to our communities, by connecting people to the information they need to effectively participate in the justice system. We do this by maximizing available resources through our in-house collections of legal materials in print and in CD-ROM, through resource sharing with other libraries, through Internet resources, and through referral to other agencies as needed. We strive to serve as a community access point for legal information.
The Washington Association of County Law Libraries is a partner in the
Washington State Access to Justice Network
    Association Profile
Who We Are: Staff at county law libraries include librarians, library assistants, court personnel, and volunteers. Each law library is governed by a board of trustees comprised of volunteers from the courts and legal community. Some staff are members of the American Association of Law Libraries , division of , and also the Special Libraries Association Legal Division.
