And if you have a town name, but don't know where it is located, you can try checking out the U.S. Census Bureau's Gazetteer . And here is a link to a list of the 246 Place Names in Washigton Co., PA
Background
Washington County is found in the extreme southwest corner of Pennsylvania. Of the four major geographic regions in the state, Washington Co. is on the Allegheny Plateau. The Allegheny Plateau covers roughly half the state, that half bounded in the east by the ridges of Allegheny mountains. Rolling hills delineated by creeks or "runs" and punctuated by springs comprise the area which was originally hardwood forest. The primeval forest supported black bear, elk, moose, deer, panthers, wildcats, wolves, wild ducks and geese, ruffed grouse, quail, pheasants, turkeys, raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, skunks, and woodchucks. This part of the state drains into the Ohio river system. The Monongahela River, which flows northward to join the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh and form the Ohio River, forms Washington County's eastern boundary.

Not many other states have so many different landscapes. Mountains close to the Coast influence the climate farther in land to add to Washington patchwork land regions. Most moist air come in from the Pacific Ocean is pushed upward as it encounters the mountains. When the ocean air rises, it looses most moisture in the form of rainfall. The western, or Pacific side receives more rainfall then the eastern side. The Cascade Mountains, that is just west of Pudget sound low land is the primary shaper of the climate regions. East of these mountains, there is much less rainfall and some deserts are near by. In the Cascade are the tallest and most famous peaks. They are the Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, and Mount St. Helen's. Mount Rainier is the majestic symbol of the north west part. The lowest point of Washington is the Pacific Coast, sea level, 3 rd

The city is the center of a metropolitan area (1990 pop. 3,923,574) extending into Maryland and Virginia. With the city of Baltimore to its north in Maryland, it forms a consolidated metropolitan area of some 6.7 million people. Washington is the legislative, administrative, and judicial center of the United States but has little industry; its business is government, and hundreds of thousands are so employed in the metropolitan area. The city is also a major tourist attraction and a cultural center. Washington has long been a gateway for African Americans emigrating from the South, and since the 1960s has had a (now diminishing) black majority. Many citizens live in poverty, and social problems have been exacerbated by the transient nature of the governmental workforce and the District's lack of political power. Transportation facilities include a subway system that connects the city with many suburbs. The main rail and air hubs are Union Station and Ronald Reagan Washington National and Dulles International airports (both in Virginia). Nearby military installations include Fort McNair, Fort Myer, Andrews Air Force Base, and Bolling Air Force Base.
