Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). As a volunteer in Mexico, you teach English to college students in the Spanish colonial cities of Dolores Hidalgo and Queretaro. You are immediately accepted and appreciated in our host communities as a rare and valuable resource in the local students' quest to gain greater English language proficiency.
These cities are two of Mexico's finest cultural and historical attractions. It was in 1810 in Dolores Hidalgo that the Mexican revolutionary war of independence against the Spanish began. In 1917, the Mexican Constitution was drawn up in Queretaro.
Experience the best of Mexico: vibrant cultural practices, strong family traditions, a clear and proud national identity, and the local people's determination to improve their future opportunities. Mexico Volunteer Program Dates I think this program will be one of those 'few in a lifetime' life-altering experiences. How can I ever be the same person I was two weeks ago?

In fact, some 45 million Americans participate in volunteer activities and 15 million - about one third - of those who volunteer are older persons. Despite the large number of people who share their time and talents, however, the needs of our communities and the nation outstrip the number of people who volunteer. Older Americans, especially retirees, are in an excellent position to volunteer. They not only have the time, but the experience and expertise to help in a variety of activities.

Rochester, NY Volunteer Opportunities How to Volunteer Volunteer "Job Description" Upcoming Events ... Return to Compeer Home Page Volunteer Opportunities Compeer is a not for profit organization which matches community volunteers in supportive friendship relationships with children and adults receiving mental health treatment. Compeer provides a fun flexible volunteer opportunity that fits into your current lifestyle. Compeer offers a number of different volunteer opportunities including: one-to-one friendships, group placements and telephone support. One-to-One Friendships You can choose to spend time with an adult or a child. As a volunteer, you and your friend share activities you enjoy such as movies, sports, shopping or coffee and a chat or many of the free activities sponsored by the Compeer Program. Your role is to be a supportive friend, role model and advocate, not a social worker, caretaker, or parent. Your Compeer already has a mental health professional - what he or she may lack is a caring, consistent friend. It is important to meet with your friend on a regular basis because consistency and dependability on your part is the best way to gain a mutually rewarding friendship. Compeer also serves special populations, such as the deaf and hard of hearing, who also have a mental illness. Group Placements As a group volunteer, you interact with several clients in staff supervised setting, joining in recreational activities, outings and meals. Typically group settings include group homes, supervised apartments, inpatient psychiatric hospital units, and hospital psychosocial clubs.
