Contrary to the claims of the education elite, parents do not have to be specially certified or have special qualifications to teach their handicapped children at home. In fact, in one of the most thorough studies performed thus far, Dr. Steven Duvall conducted a year long study involving eight elementary and two junior high students with learning disabilities. He compared one group of five students that received instruction at home with a group of five students who attended public schools. He was careful to match the public school students to the homeschool students according to grade level, sex, I.Q., and area of disability. Using a laptop computer, Dr. Duvall sat in on teaching sessions and took an observation every twenty seconds, creating tens of thousands of data points that were then fed into a statistical analysis package. Normally his research included a second observer who double-checked Dr. Duvall's readings. Dr. Duvall recorded and analyzed academically engaged time by students during

Special ramps to accommodate wheelchair travel are located at both short-term parking lots flanking the airport terminal as well as long-term parking lots and garages. Also convenient parking spaces are reserved for the handicapped in all parking lots and garages. Main Passenger Terminal
Curb Access - Ramps are also provided at curbside on both Arrival and Departure sides of the terminal. Doors - Terminal entrances and exits on both Arrival and Departure sides are equipped with automatic double doors, and door widths are designed to easily accommodate wheelchairs. Elevators
Elevators are conveniently located throughout the Main Passenger Terminal, Arrivals (baggage claim) Terminal, and parking garages. All elevators are identified with the standard graphics used to designate handicapped facilities, and are equipped with raised markings on the control buttons. Restrooms - All restrooms feature one cubicle with a raised toilet seat designed primarily for non-ambulatory use. Their dimensions are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair, and are equipped with handrails. Restrooms are also equipped with full-length mirrors and low-level paper towel dispensers/hand dryers.

She works with 5th and 6th grade emotionally disturbed and learning disabled students in a team-taught program she designed with Jenn McCullough.
Ms. Bantz received a B.A. in Elementary/Special Education from Boston College in May 1986 and a Masters in Special Education/Behavior Disorders from Kent State University in 1990. She has a total of 12 years experience in the field of Special Education and received the "Outstanding Elementary Teacher" award from the University of Virginia chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, as well as the "Teacher of the Year" award from the Ohio Council for Children with Behavior Disorders.
JENN McCULLOUGH - Jenn McCullough is currently a Special Education teacher at Walker Upper Elementary School in Charlottesville, Virginia. She team-teaches 5th and 6th grade students who have been identified as having a learning and/or emotional disability.
