History about Hovli Poyon house
The house was constructed in the middle of 19 th century during the government of emir Ahad-khan in traditions of Bukhara with very original architectural lay-out in national style of that time by young bek Urganji. When the house was built the emir and representatives of other states were invited on charitable entertainment (hudoi) to celebrate the end of construction of the house. All present visitors had admired architecture beauty and grace of the building. On this celebration all foremen, architects and the woodcarvers were awarded with precious gifts, dressing gowns, gold belts, etc. Architect also was awarded with tekin horse in complete dressing. The house and celebration had made a huge impression on emir Ahad-khad and he had expressed his admiration and hinted that it would be good to have such house for emir of Bukhara below from an Arch in such place, that was cool and windy and in the noblest place of Bukhara. And Urganji bek didn't loose himself and replied that has constructed it for emir.

History and Government History :
The territory of modern-day Uzbekistan and its close neighbours have seen many empires rise and fall. The Sogdians, the Macedonians, the Huns, the Mongolians, the Seljuks, the Timurids and the Khanates of Samarkand, Bukhara Khiva and Khorezm all held sway here at one time or another. Central Asia really came of age with the development of the Silk Road from China to the West. Samarkand and Bukhara lay astride this, the most valuable trading route of its day. The riches that it brought were used to build fabulous mosques and madrassars, most of which were destroyed by the Mongol hordes in the 13th century. Much of the damage was repaired and new cities were built by Timur the Lame in the 14th century. Timur conquered all before him and, at its height, his empire stretched from Moscow and Baghdad and as far west as Ankara in Turkey.

Uzbekistan: Samarkand History and Culture Museum
May 2003, Samarkand, Uzbekistan: The Samarkand History and Culture Museum in Uzbekistan received the Ambassador’s Cultural Preservation Fund Grant of $14,200. The grant was used to improve conditions in the hall displaying ancient Islamic manuscripts and Korans. The oldest Koran in the hall dates back to the 11th century and is written on palm leaves. The old display room was only 25 square meters, extremely humid and cold during the winter and excessively dry and hot during the summer. With the support of the Deputy Governor of Samarkand Province, a larger space, 140 square meters, was donated for the project. The grant money refurbished the gallery hall, installed proper temperature control and light systems, and purchased appropriate, museum-quality showcases. The new Koran room opened in May 2003 and was attended by local clergy and the Governor of Samarkand Province, Shavkhat Mirziyaev, who stated that the opening of the refurbished hall was “made possible thanks to the efforts of the American Embassy and the Ambassador’s Culture Preservation Fund. Cooperation with the U.S. continues not only in military areas but also in the areas of culture, education and shared values.” A $10,000 supplement was donated to digitize part of the museum collection and to purchase TV monitors to display artifacts.

Letter from Krakow
George Bush waves to the crowd in Krakow. Unfortunately the crowd seems to consist entirely of soldiers in the cutest helmets I've ever seen. (Are those feathers or bunny fur?)
John Steppling explains (about the missing crowds, I don't think anyone can explain the helmets):
Just to give you the update on Dubya's visit to our fair city. Secret service crawling all over everything and protesters kept well away from the commander in chief and then the numbers (BBC reported hundreds "that petered out quickly") were quite low. Busloads had come down from Warsaw and Lodz. This notion that Poles love America is about right, but they don't love Bush. In fact it's becoming pretty clear they really don't like the idea of sending Polish troops off to Iraq something that was agreed to with almost no public discussion.
So while the top Polish leaders may want to rub up against the business interests represented by Bush and his pals, the people are starting to get nervous and with the referendum on the EU in about a week or so, the atmosphere is deeply conflicted here in Krakow (and Poland in general).

HISTORY OF UZBEKISTAN
The earliest traces of human civilization in Central Asia date back to 100,000-40,000 years ago. At that time the people of the region were isolated from the rest of the world by ice fields and impassable swamps of the glacial age. The earliest known relics ever found here are the remains of a boy, bones of animals and tools of ancient people in the Teshiktash cave (Surkhandarya Province). Those Neanderthals lived in families and had to cope with what the wild world around them had to offer.
Seven thousand years ago first human tribes arouse. People learned how to use bronze and iron instead of stone for their tools. Collecting and hunting as major occupations were replaced by agriculture and livestock breeding. Early farming communities organized in a state-like pattern appeared in the fertile oases of Bactria, Khorezm, Sogdiana and Parthia. Ancient sources and inscriptions mention such agricultural oases of the first millennium BC.
Khorezm lay south of the Aral Sea in the lower reaches of the Amudarya River. The area between Syrdarya and Amudarya was called

Music UZBEKISTAN HISTORY For millennia Central Asia had been a center where different nations, religions and cultures communicated and enriched each other. Since the time of Zoroastr and 'Avesta' the historical and cultural influence of this unique civilization on both Asia and Europe has been great. Dariy and Alexander the Great, Chinese emperors Khan and Tan, the Sassanids and Arab Caliphs, Chenghiz Khan and Nadir Shah and later Russian tsars tried to conquer this rich land. In the period of antiquity this land of plenty, that became the homeland of the legendary Afrasiab and Siyawush, Tumaris and Spitamen, was named 'The Land of a thousand towns'. In 1997 the Uzbek government jointly with UNESCO initiated a celebration of the 2500th anniversary of Bukhara and Khiva which are among the most ancient towns in the world. In the early Middle Ages the energy and enterprise of the merchants from Sogdiana and Khorezm, Fergana and Chach was responsible for the blossoming of caravan trade along the Great Silk Road. It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of Uzbek ancestors on the development of Moslem culture. The Islamic world honors the spiritual exploits of imams al-Bukhari and al-Termizi who saved the sacred knowledge about true haddiths. For centuries the works of al-Khorezmi, al-Fargani, Ibn Sino, Beruni and Ulugbek have retained their importance for the scientific world. During Timurid's renaissance, starting from the time of Amir Temur, crafts, architecture, science and literature blossomed and became a high point of medieval Moslem culture.

Located in the heart of Central Asia between the Amu Darya and Syr Darya Rivers, Uzbekistan has a long and interesting heritage. The leading cities of the Silk Road Samarkand Bukhara , and Khiva - are located in Uzbekistan, and many famous conquerors passed through the land. Alexander the Great stopped near Samarkand on his way to India in 327 BC and married Roxanna, daughter of a local chieftain. The territory of present day Uzbekistan was referred to as Transoxiana until the 8th century .
