Henderson Island is an unihabitated raised reef island, 9.6 km long by 5.1 km wide with an area of 36 square km, in the Pitcairn Island group of the SE Pacific. The island's perimeter is 26.4 km; of this, 16.5 km is encircled by a fringing reef. It is 168 km ENE of Pitcairn. Henderson Island is the largest island in the Pitcairn Island group, one of the remotest groups of islands in the South Pacific, with no major land mass within a 5,000km radius. The group comprises four islands, with Henderson lying 200km east-north-east of Pitcairn, 200km east of Oeno and 360km west of Ducie. Only Ducie, and the Chilean islands of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Sala y Gomez lie further to the east within Polynesia. The Pitcairn group is a Dependent Territory of the United Kingdom governed by the British High Commissioner in New Zealand, and a 10 member island council of H.M.S. Bounty descendants on Pitcairn Island. Henderson Island is (British) Crown Land. The Pitcairn Islanders visit Henderson Island occasionally to collect miro wood (Thespesia populnea) for curio-making.

In March 2003, the government of Cuba arrested dozens of journalists, librarians , and human rights activists and charged them with sedition. After summary trials in which fundamental rights of due process were denied, the accused were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 15 to 28 years. In all, 78 journalists, librarians, and dissidents were sentenced to a collective total of more than 1,400 years in Cuba's gulag . Among the condemned are renowned champions of freedom, such as poet and journalist, Raúl Rivero , economist, Martha Beatriz Roque , and Christian activist, Oscar Elías Biscet In April, the Cuban government summarily executed three young Cuban men who had hijacked a ferry in a failed bid to escape their island-prison.

    http://www.palestine-net.com/
Welcome to Palestine! On behalf of the Palestinian people, especially those under siege, curfew, atrocities, massacres, hardship and danger, we would like to thank all of you who are with us physically, in protest or in prayers. We especially thank members of the international solidarity movement and international solidarity campaign who are currently in Palestine sharing these difficult and dark moments with us. We also thank those in the media trying to document what they can, under real danger, of this last chapter of injustice. For those asking about our well-being, we are doing well and our belief in our just cause increases by the minute. We were first in history and, inshallah, we will be last in geography.
