Virginia Tech forest products professor assists international research center Tom Hammett of Blacksburg, associate professor of forest products marketing, is serving as the new scientific liaison officer to CIFOR. CSREES launches a new Agency Web Site CSREES advances knowledge for agriculture, the environment, human health and well-being, and communities through national program leadership and federal assistance. Their new and improved website can be found at www.csrees.usda.gov. Guidebook to Forest Management Certification Released by Pinchot Institute The overall purpose of the guidebook is to inform private forest landowners about certification, to help them decide if it is a path worth pursuing, and to highlight the steps and considerations involved in the process of becoming certified.

A s Kansans become more aware of how important trees are to their quality of life, they realize the need to plant and care for trees close to their homes and workplaces. The Kansas Urban Forestry Council is a state-wide, grassroots, nonprofit organization of people from small and large communities who are committed to expanding, improving and preserving trees in their neighborhoods. The Kansas Urban Forestry Council is made up of people just like you...homeowners, gardeners, urban foresters, community leaders, county extension agents, all shapes and sizes of people who agree that trees are too valuable of a resource to waste. The Council offers guidance, opportunities, and support programs to get actively involved in tree projects that directly benefit your community or group. To provide guidance to the urban and community forestry movement in Kansas through education, training, volunteer coordination, and technical assistance. Help Us Meet Our Goals
