SUMMER CAMPS OFFERED FOR CHILDREN WITH ASTHMA Children with moderate to severe asthma can enjoy the activities, fun and friendships of a summer camp experience while learning how to better manage their asthma through medically supervised asthma camps operated by the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago.
The ALA is offering day and overnight camps. The Southeast Side Asthma Day Camp will be held July 12 - 16, 2004, in Calumet Park. Qualifying children ages 8 to 12 years old may attend free of charge.
The Little Village Asthma Day Camp is being held July 26 - 30, 2004, in Harrison Park. Qualifying children ages 8 to 12 years old may attend free of charge.
An overnight camp is being offered this summer to qualifying children ages 8 to 14 years old that have asthma. Camp ACTION will be held on August 8 - 14, 2004, and is operated by the American Lung Association, in conjunction with a YMCA camp in Hubertus, Wisconsin.
Camp ACTION combines asthma education and self-management training with classic camp opportunities such as swimming, hiking and arts and crafts. Registration fees are $70 plus a $35 bus fee. Scholarships are available.
