Our treks
Hello! We are not your average trekking company; rather we are based in the Himalaya and trekking is our passion and lifestyle. We specialise in Nepal, Tibet and India (Ladakh and Zanskar); trekking, climbing and expeditions. Some of our treks are exploratory, sometimes wild and off the beaten track, other are classic routes, but all special. We only run in the best seasons often with two western guides and we have superstar crews. Our treks are fun and our max group sizes are smaller than all comparable companies. We are small and personal but compete head-on with all other trekking companies and, as you will find, offer a service that is usually better than them. True!

Introduction
The security situation in Nepal has slowly deteriorated over the years and has now reached a point of greater uncertainty. For the most part it is still relatively safe to travel and trek but there are more and more caveats and the situation could change quickly.
Strikes - 'Bandhs'
There are now numerous 'bandhs' or strikes - several in a month. In Kathmandu this means most shops are shut but some Thamel restaurants stay open and it is still possible to get to a from the airport, sometimes by taxi, always by rickshaws. Sometimes shops will reopen in the evening.

Trekking to Tilicho Route Description FAQ about Tilicho Copy right
A trek in 1981 On my first stay in Manang in July and August 1981 several villages told me that it was very complicated to find the path to the lake. One had even offered his services as a guide to some foreigners, and told me with a laugh that his clients had become really mad when he could not find the way. Later in August an English fellow turned up in Manang and we decided to try to reach the lake together. A tent was rented locally and Tsring Dolma, my host, made us some provisions, and then we set off. Conversation with the locals had convinced us that it was a hopeless project to find a path along the valley floor. Instead we bet on making a high traverse from Khangsar, maintaining the altitude, on a path that went along the northern slopes of the valley. The path was large and well maintained to a Gompa a couple of kilometres beyond Khangsar. Then, it gradually got smaller, only to disappear completely after a couple of hours. At this point we were well beyond the thickest forest at the valley floor so we descended down lose scree slopes to the valley bottom and progressed along it. Here faint paths were found. We headed up grassy steep slopes where the valley narrowed to find that some extremely steep scree slopes had to be traversed. This was the most dramatic point. Beyond them we passed a side valley, forded a fast brook and headed for the moraine ridge that comes down from the watershed. By now it was getting dark so we pitched camp.

http://user.tninet.se/~ipg289h/fu99/Trekking/Hiddenvalley/DhampusPass.html
Trekking to the Hidden Valley Route Description FAQ about the Hidden Valley Copy Right The Hidden Valley surely has a local name, as it is actually used as a Yak Pasture during the monsoon. It got named the Hidden Valley by the French climber and expedition photographer Marcel Ichac who reached it on a recognisance trek on the French Himalaya expedition 1950. The current maps were so poor that the expedition — that had permits for both mountains — spent weeks looking for the foot of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, and eventually decided to bet on Annapurna. The recognisance party got as far as the watershed between the hidden valley and the Myagdi Khola, north of Dhaulagiri. That pass was by succeeding expeditions called the French Coloir. As the French expedition was the first ever to summit on an 8000 metres mountain the expedition book (Herzog 1950 Annapurna 8000) was widely sold and the name got well established. During the nineties when a "Dhaulagiri circuit" has been marketed by the Nepali trekking agencies it has become trekked quite frequently. With a different trekking regime in Nepal it would be an important centre for alpinism as it is surrounded by several easily scaled peaks. It would also be a splendid gateway to Dolpho and other trekking areas. However, at the time of writing the people of Dolpho has been banned from developing tourism and trekking. A trek in 1996 We came to the Hidden valley by chance. Our original plan was to trek in Tibet, south of the Lhasa - Kathmandu road. However, all foreigners were banned from individual travel in Tibet by the Chinese. We were not even allowed to buy bus tickets to Shigatse. When we tried they sent us to the CITS a gigantic bureaucratic Chinese government tour operator, renowned for high prices and lousy service. That was the straw. The same day we bought flight tickets to Kathmandu. We flew out the next day, took a bus to Pokhara, and got on a flight to Jomosom. At least we were reasonably acclimatised.
