The Chernobyl disaster in 1986 provides proof that KIO3 Potassium Iodate and KI Potassium Iodide does prevent thyroid cancer by blocking the thyroid. Note the thyroid itself is key to a child's growth and health.
This is the reason we call kio3 the anti radiation pill or anti nuke pill. The blockage of the thyroid by medicinal amounts of potassium iodate prevent the sponge like absorption of radioactive iodine (if the sponge is full of potassium iodate it can't absorb radioactive iodine).
Potassium Iodate kio3 for nuclear weapons, nuclear power plant incidents, or a Chernobyl disaster.
If you're downwind of an incident, this inexpensive pill will help diminish the threat from thyroid cancer. Chernobyl in 2003... the problem hasn't gone away...
The Chernobyl disaster spewed out 90 times the radiation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Combined...

THYROID CONDITIONS The influence of the thyroid gland is both far-reaching and critical to normal body function. It affects one's heart rate, cholesterol level, body weight, energy level, muscle strength, skin condition, vision, menstrual regularity, mental state and a host of other conditions. Despite its pervasive influence, however, the thyroid gland and its disorders are still not widely understood among the general public. Since thyroid disorders are a major women's health issue,AMWA has called for action by developing a consumer education campaign. The initiative, Gland Central - Your Thyroid is aimed at increasing public awareness of thyroid disorders. Thyroid
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The thyroid gland and its relations In anatomy , the thyroid IPA endocrine gland. It is situated on the front side of the neck, just below the Adam's apple , near the thyroid cartilage over the trachea but covered by layers of skin and muscle. The thyroid is quite large for an endocrine gland - 15-30 grams - and butterfly-shaped: the wings correspond to the lobes and the body to the isthmus of the thyroid. The primary function of the thyroid is production of hormones The production of these hormones is regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), released by the pituitary The gland is composed of spherical follicles that selectively absorbs iodine (more accurately iodide ions, I ) from the bloodstream and concentrates it for production of thyroid hormones. The follicles are made of a single layer of thyroid epithelial cells ,which secrete T3 and T4, inside the follicles is a colloid which is rich in a protein called thyroglobulin . It serves as a reservoir of materials for thyroid hormone production and, to a lesser extent, a reservoir of the hormones themselves. The spaces between the thyroid follicle spheres are filled with the other type of thyroid cells

  • The Thyroid Gland The thyroid gland is a double-lobed structure located in the neck. Embedded in its rear surface are the four parathyroid glands. Link to graphic showing the location of the thyroid, parathyroids, and other endocrine glands (92K).
    The Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland synthesizes and secretes:
    • thyroxine T ) and
    • calcitonin
    T and T
Thyroxine (T ) is a derivative of the amino acid tyrosine with four atoms of iodine . In the liver, one atom of iodine is removed from T converting it into triiodothyronine T T is the active hormone . It has many effects on the body. Among the most prominent of these are:
    • an increase in metabolic rate (seen by a rise in the uptake of oxygen);
    • an increase in the rate and strength of the heart beat.
The thyroid cells responsible for the synthesis of T take up circulating iodine from the blood. This action, as well as the synthesis of the hormones, is stimulated by the binding of TSH to transmembrane receptors at the cell surface.

Growth on Tipper Gore's thyroid not cancerous
December 30, 1999
Web posted at: 1:04 p.m. EST (1804 GMT) WASHINGTON (CNN) - A growth removed Tuesday from the thyroid gland of Tipper Gore, wife of Vice President Al Gore, is not cancerous, medical and White House sources said Thursday. Sources at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore revealed late Thursday morning that the lump removed from Mrs. Gore's thyroid gland in a brief surgical procedure is not cancerous. Mrs. Gore had minor surgery at the medical center Tuesday to remove the lump. Her attending doctor, endocrinologist Robert Udelsman, was scheduled to hold a press conference later Thursday to discuss the results of a biopsy on the nodule. All indications were that the lump is benign, meaning Gore will likely not suffer any long-term ill effects of the growth.

Recent Survey Results Probably the second most common observation we have made is that patients arrive at our clinic with thousands of dollars worth of testing that was completely unnecessary. Indeed, and this is especially true in large institutions, once a patient is found to have a "thyroid problem" they are immediately herded to a clinic that performs a battery of routine testing without regard for the individual patient's needs. This may be convenient for the institution, but it can be costly, invasive, painful, and often times unnecessary. Our clinic has thrived for more than fifty-four years as an extension of a medical center practice that began in 1949. The reason for this success is that each patient's diagnostic and treatment plan is carefully constructed to fit individual needs.

Every year in the United States there are nearly 20,000 newly diagnosed cases of thyroid cancer. While there are several types of Thyroid Cancer, the most common types are called Papillary Carcinoma and Follicular Variant of Papillary Carcinoma. Other forms include Medullary Carcinoma, Huurthle Cell Carcinoma (a variant of Follicular Carcinoma), and Anaplastic Carcinoma. Fortunately, most thyroid tumors are benign, but many will require an operation to know that with certainty.
While radiation will sometimes be used as part of the treatment plan for a patient with Thyroid Cancer, surgery remains the single most important aspect of treatment. Though some forms of Thyroid Cancer can be life threatening, the overwhelming majority of patients with the more common types of Thyroid Cancer will be cured of their disease if given early and appropriate surgical treatment by an experienced thyroid surgeon. We encourage you to browse through some commonly asked questions put to us by thyroid cancer patients.
Q: How long will the operation take?
