Outstanding Scholarship Programming
Kappa Alpha Theta strives to uphold the highest scholarship ideals. Through our scholarship programming, we motivate our members to achieve greatness in the classroom, so that they will be able to succeed in the "real world." Each week, during our chapter meeting, a volunteer member offers a Scholarship Presentation for the good of the entire chapter. Previous topics have included: resume tips, hidden gems of K-State academics, ways to not procrastinate, useful study tips, figuring out K-State GPAs, and many other topics. Right before finals, an auction will be held so that members can spend their "Bettie Bucks" on items such as jewelry, movies, Theta paraphernalia, and much more. Ladies who have earned Bettie Bucks throughout the week are recognized during our chapter meeting. Kappa Alpha Theta has one other incentive program. During our weekly meeting, envelopes for "Studying Stud" and "Don't Wanna Miss a Class" nominations are passed around. Sisters can nominate each other for the studying award, while individuals put their own name in, if they have attended every class that week. Each week, a drawing takes place and awards are given. We also pass around envelopes for our "A's for the Galaxy" board, where ladies write on stars if they have gotten A's on tests. At the end of the semester, the pledge class with the most stars receives an ice cream party.

Introduction
A few days ago Tweety asked me how you would go about rotating an Image object. The reply seemed simple enough, use the Transform property of your Graphics object with a Matrix object having the appropriate Rotate method called on it. But I forgot about one aspect regarding the transforms, while it is easy to rotate the Image , you have to jump through hoops to get it to rotate correctly and still remain in somewhat the same location. Since I was disgusted from looking at the same non-working code for the past two weeks this was a welcome vacation.
My first attempt
I wanted to take what seemed the obvious way to do this, so I started messing around with the

When you alter your state of consciousness with hypnosis, meditation, or as happens naturally when you are crossing over into sleep, your brainwave levels shift to Alpha or Theta (diagram 2). In these altered states, there is a large fluctuation in the level of energy.

Newly Initiated Brothers On February 24, 2004 at 9 PM, 5 new brothers joined the ranks of Beta Chi Chapter, beginning their life long journey that is Theta Chi.
Name Class Michael Bourgeois David DeRosa Chad Kulig Donald Lippert William Minett
Make a Difference Day: October 18, 2003 This year the brotherhood participated in several Make A Difference Day projects: painting and repairing siding, building a wheelchair access ramp, and cleaning the furniture closet - a local philanthropy program Beta Chi has led on a weekly basis for the last six consecutive years. Collectively, the brothers committed over 200 hours of community service for Make a Difference Day. We have also expanded our weekly commitments by volunteering our time to build for Habitat for Humanity.

International Honor Society
Of The Two Year College Established in 1918 by Missouri two-year college presidents, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. Today, Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members and 1100 chapters located in 50 united states, U.S. territories, Canada, Germany, and Japan. In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges. At the time of its founding, Phi Theta Kappa was patterned after the prestigious senior college honor society Phi Beta Kappa. Thus, membership was conferred at graduation and few programs and services were offered to members. The explosive growth of community colleges in the 1960s led Phi Theta Kappa to expand its mission to reflect the nurturing philosophy of the institutions it served. Students were inducted as freshmen and study programs were offered. The complement of services, innovative programs, and membership benefits offered by Phi Theta Kappa today are unequaled among honor societies. The programs offered focus upon the Society’s Hallmark of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship. It is estimated that 150,000 students participate in Phi Theta Kappa programs each year.

Mathematical functions are included in the Math class, which is part of the System namespace. You don't therefore need to add any references to your project to make use of these functions.
The Math class basically contains a large number of static functions to perform operations such as calculating sines, logarithms etc. It also contains two static members, E and PI, which respectively return the values of the mathematical constants e and p. The class is quite basic: it contains all the important mathematical functions, but not much more. There is at present no support for, for example complex numbers or vector or matrix operations. Also the function names will probably annoy many mathematicians since their names often don't follow normal usage as far as case is concerned. We'll demonstrate the use of this class with a simple application, Math, which displays the values of e and p and also the sines of angles between and 90 degrees. The code that we add to the constructor to the main form class looks like this

Programming Example: Projectile Motion
Problem Statement
This program computes the position ( x and y coordinates) and the velocity (magnitude and direction) of a projectile, given t , the time since launch, u , the launch velocity, a , the initial angle of launch (in degree), and g=9.8 , the acceleration due to gravity. The horizontal and vertical displacements are given by the following formulae: The horizontal and vertical components of the velocity vector are computed as and the magnitude of the velocity vector is Finally, the angle between the ground and the velocity vector is determined by the formula below: Write a program to read in the launch angle a , the time since launch t , and the launch velocity u , and compute the position, the velocity and the angle with the ground.
Solution
Click here to download this program.
Program Output
If the input to the program consists of the following three real values: The program will generate the following output: Horizontal displacement : 254.558472 Vertical displacement : 78.158432 Resultant velocity : 45.4763107 Direction (in degree) : -21.1030636
Discussion
  • The program uses Angle for the angle a Time for t , and U for u . The READ statement reads the input.

This Images demonstrates drawing a centered String command dcS. The String's heading follows the turtle. Note the use of alpha transparency. From the first demo in version 2 beta, this spiral has a constant step size and a growing disc diameter, and a decaying change in theta. This demonstrates the layering of images ontop of a drawing. It also demonstrates the png endcoder which was use for the screen capture. If you love Logo, you see things with a Logo eye. That's to say you decompose shapes to turtle commands. This was part of a chair that just had to be realized in AJLogo. This was inspired by the background at Cat's Eye Technologies .It was another 'how fast can I replecate this' challenge (took about 30 min). This uses a Model to allow real-time drawing of numerous repetive shapes. Adding the third dimension to the otherwise flat recursive tree really adds to this image. The standard Lissajous figure is shown here with controls over x/y ratio. An interesting experiment, this is the programatic flood filling of an object. By using alpha transparency, multipule fills appear darker.

I. Vision
In order to guide our planning into the future a Vision of what we want to be was developed: Upsilon Chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity is the #1 Chapter of the Fraternity. They are financially successful and filthy rich. Recognized locally as what a fraternity should be, they are still viewed as unique and a leader in multiple areas. Consistently #1 in academics they are also known for their public service/philanthropy. All of these achievements are due to the exceptional commitment of the brothers to the Fraternity and its values. The brothers stay active until they graduate and then they move on to become active alumni members. The alumni are considered a model of alumni involvement. Parents of members also are strongly involved. The Chapter facilities are phenomenal, consisting of a large and modern house and annex, both usually full to capacity. There is ample parking for members and guests, the facilities are impeccably maintained, and House Girls are employed to serve tables during formal dinners and to assist the cook in the kitchen and with cleanup. The various communities of interest are well aware of all this due to their robust and integrated public relations program.
