by David Auburn September 25-27 and October 1-4 at 8:00 pm in Nichols Theatre Synopsis: Two sisters are brought together for a weekend following the death of their father, Robert, a gifted, yet mentally ill mathematician. One daughter, Catherine, has inherited her father's mathematical ability, but has she also inherited his madness? Her sister Claire invades her life in an effort to "help" Catherine. Hal, a former student of Robert's, asks Catherine to find one last brilliant discovery in Robert's writings. Once found, there is a question of ownership over the ingenious mathematical proof. This suspenseful play balances humor and drama. At its core it is a story about family and trust. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the Tony, the Drama Desk, and the Outer Critics Circle awards.

Search Lobero Theatre Production Files Database This database contains listings for all events at Santa Barbara's Lobero Theatre from 1924-1993, including concerts, plays, films and community events. The database allows searching by production number and title, producer (e.g. Lobero Theatre, Community Arts Association, Music Academy of the West etc.), and the date. For each production after 1938, the Lobero Theatre maintainted files for each production which generally includes newpaper clippings, financial information, programs. Files for each production can be paged by bringing the box number to the Special Collections service desk. Productions before 1938 (generally those without a production number) are documented by scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and programs kept by the Lobero. For pre-1938 productions, bring the year of the production to the Special Collections service desk to retreive that year's scrapbook. Scrapbooks are fragile and in the interests of preservation we request that they be handled with care. Files from 1993 to 1997 are currently being processed by the Special Collections staff and files from 1997 onward are maintained by the Lobero.

General Production Philosophy. The production program is the laboratory for thecurriculum and supports the mission of the Department of theatre and Dance.
    http://www.arts.ufl.edu/theatreanddance/theatreproduction-bfa.html
The primary qualitative focus of the production program is to present the most effective and affective performances possible. It also provides a laboratory for students and the opportunity for practical application of classroom exercises and theories.
    BFA/MFA Students
Students selected for the pre-professional degree programs (BFA, MFA) are expected to fill most important roles in major season productions. These students will audition prior to the general population for each semester's productions. The entire performance faculty will observe their auditions and will advise the directors regarding casting to enhance the BFA and MFA students' education and the quality of productions. These students will receive special consideration in casting; however, like all auditioneess, they must win roles in competitive, open auditions. Directors in consultation with the Artistic Director will make the final determinations in casting. Students not cast or assigned significant responsibilities—i.e., understudy, assistant director, stage manager—will perform in a special showcase with a faculty director. After casts have been selected, BFA/MFA students will meet individually with a panel of at least three faculty members, who will evaluate the audition and advise future actions. Auditions are juried events. Continuation in the pre-professional degree programs is contingent upon successful auditions, performances, classroom work, and juries. Lack of success in any of these areas will result in probationary status and/or elimination from the specialized degree program.
