Objective: To create a good group dynamic and positive classroom
environment.
Materials : 1 rolled up newspaper, stop watch.
Lesson: The Line Game : 10 min.
Divide the students into equal groups. You will announce an order that you wish them to line up in, first group to do it and sit in a line on the floor wins a point. Use any of these categories: street addresses (highest in the front - lowest in the back), age, shoe size, birthdays,
telephone numbers, middle names in alphabetical order, Mother's first name, etc.
The Name Game: 10 min. (don't let the tap get too aggressive). Students stand in a circle and each person says their name. One is chosen to be in the middle and is given the newspaper roll. They attempt to tap the head of a circle member before that member yells out another player's name. If the player yells out a name in time the tapper goes to that player, and so on and so on. They will learn names quite quickly with this! The Interview Game: 15 - 20 min.

Objectives In groups of 4-5, students will choose an era of Theatre History ( I give them a list to choose from). Then, each student in the group will choose a research topic for that era ( I give them a list). The group will present their findings in a 20-30 minute oral presentation (they are teaching the class that era of history). Each group will also choose a short scene from a play from their chosen era. The scene must accommodate everyone in the group. They will rehearse and perform the scene after their groups oral presentation. Must create Visual Aids to accompany oral presentation. Materials: use of library for research, any texts you have to help them, copies of scenes, poster board, scissors, glue, etc.

Greek warriors find a moment to relax during the Trojan War. The two Greek warriors on this Neck-Amphora have put aside their helmets and shields to play a board game, presumably taking advantage of a lull between battles. They are still holding their spears, however, ready to return to action at any moment. Squatting before the game board, the warrior on the left seems to have made a move with one of the black or white games pieces, and his opponent on the right gestures excitedly. The goddess Athena, holding her spear and wearing an elaborate helmet and snake-bordered aegis (breastplate), stands behind the game board in a stiff pose, perhaps to indicate that the figure is a statue. The white paint covering her skin is a standard way of depicting females in the black-figure technique. (Originated in Corinth and perfected in Athens, capital of Attica, the black-figure technique placed figures done in black paint against a natural clay background, with the detail achieved through incision.) Here the composition skillfully balances mass and detail and directs the viewer to the action in the center. The artist has been associated with the so-called Leagros Group, which produced the last great black-figured vases. The first of many vase-painters to render this scene may have been the great Athenian master Exedias, who used it to decorate an amphora in about 540 B.C. and added an inscription identifying the warriors as Ajax and Achilles. These two Greek heroes, friends and comrades during the Trojan War, were famous for the bravery and sense of honor: Ajax killed himself after rescuing Achilles’ body on the battlefield but failing to win Achilles’ armor at the funeral games.

Cinderella is probably the best-known fairy tale in the world. It has been told all over the world, from Egypt to China. Over five hundred versions have been found in Europe alone. The story was first told, and then written down, by collectors of folktales. Sometimes, as you will discover, the teller of the tale would change it slightly. Different versions of the tale often have a similar structure, theme, and details in common. Joseph Jacobs, a collector and editor of Cinderella stories, once wrote of a Cinderella story he had collected and printed that was, "… an English version of an Italian adaptation of a Spanish translation of a Latin version of a Hebrew translation of an Arabic translation of an Indian original."
