THE THANKSGIVING "SPECIAL" BOUQUET
November 27, 2000
Sandra felt as low as the heels of her Birkenstocks as she pushed against a November gust and the florist shop door. Her life had been easy, like spring breeze. Then in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a minor automobile accident stole her ease.
During this Thanksgiving week she would have delivered a son. She grieved over her loss. As if that weren't enough, her husband's company threatened a transfer. Then her sister, whose holiday visit she coveted, called saying she could not come. What's worse, Sandra's friend infuriated her by suggesting her grief was a God-given path to maturity that would allow her to empathize with others who suffer.
"She has no idea what I'm feeling," thought Sandra with a shudder.
Thanksgiving? Thankful for what? She wondered. For a careless driver whose truck was hardly scratched when he rear-ended her? For an air bag that saved her life but took that of her child?
"Good afternoon, may I help you?" The shop clerk's approach startled her.
"I....I need an arrangement," stammered Sandra.

Next month comes Christmas, when many of us celebrate the most sensational immigration of all time, the birth of Jesus. Those events are worth considering as we examine the arguments about immigration today. Is it possible to take wise precautions against both terrorism and future disunity while honoring the pro-immigration flavor of American and biblical history? Let's look at the four major types of anti-immigration arguments. Type one criticizes not the immigrants themselves but a culture no longer committed to helping them assimilate. Some schools do a poor job of teaching immigrant children English, and thus limit their social and economic mobility. Some schools emphasize America's faults, instead of teaching that this country has accorded immigrants liberty and opportunity unprecedented in world history. Concerns about what we teach immigrants are valid if America is to become not a divided nation, but one still living out the phrase

PILGRIM'S PROGRESS This Pilgrim Gives Thanks My Oxford American Dictionary defines "Pilgrimage" thusly: "A journey made to a place as a mark of respect" Today, all across America, Thanksgiving is being celebrated - a day to give thanks for the good things that have passed through our lives this year. In 1620, as my American Studies students here in China can tell you-(Chapter and Verse)-a ship called the Mayflower sailed west from England and landed in the "New World" and the passengers, the "Pilgrims", disembarked into a strange and vastly different "New World". The following November, they celebrated their successful 1st year by giving thanks to all who had helped them. In China, the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival occurs in early to mid-October. It is a time to celebrate the harvest and, as well, a time to gaze at the full moon and remember family and friends in other places.

Balancing the 3Rs and the Bible by Robin Sampson. Telling a homeschooling parent to teach with a Bible focus is easy. Whom shall he teach knowledge?
http://www.heartofwisdom.com/newsletter/April04/3rs.htm
Balancing the 3Rs and the Bible
by Robin Sampson T If you ask a homeschooler about balancing subjects, many without realizing it, would look at the situation as assigning weights by periods of time something like the image above: Bible on one side with academics on the other. We begin mentally scheduling how much time should be spent in each "subject." Using this analogy how much weight should the 3Rs get? How much weight should the Bible get? Who decided on the time period of one hour subjects? And who decided that all children learn in the same way with the same exposure? Who decided all subjects should be taught one hour a day? If the Bible is a one hour study time should 3Rs be 3 more hours? Would it be the same for a four year old and a 17 year old? The problem with this mentality is we usually think about the states requirements concerning education instead of God's requirements. We are putting the wrong items on the scales! It should NOT be Bible on one side and 3Rs on the other. They are not in competition with each other. The 3Rs are the tools to help you reach the goal. Our GoalGod's will should be on one side and everything we can get our hands on to prepare our children to balance the scales.

Make finding your downloaded files easy by creating a PC Teach It folder on your computer and saving the template and downloadable project files there.
Before downloading a file, make sure you know what file formats your graphic design program can import. You can check this where it says "files of type" in the dialog box that opens when you try to insert a graphic. If the file is available as a PDF, you do not have to import it into a graphic design or word processing program. Just download the file and open it with Adobe Acrobat Reader, version 4.0 or higher. If you don't already have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher, you can download it here . PDF files can be viewed on both PCs and Macs.
Using a Template or Downloadable Project
To use a template or downloadable image file, open your graphic design program and insert the file as you would any graphic file. Usually, you do this under the Insert menu. You may need to resize the file after you have inserted it. Be sure to resize it proportionally. To do so in some programs, you have to hold down the

"Where to Go for Thanksgiving"
a quick note from Dr. John DeBrine In simple terms let me put it this way: Go to the Holy Spirit and the reason is Ephesians 5:20 "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;" "Holy Spirit this verse is beyond my grasp. Teach me so I can teach. You Holy Spirit, are the greatest teacher the World has ever known. Open my eyes so I can behold wondrous things out of the World of God." I never had a better summer and the good weather had very little to do with it. I discovered Where To Go For Thanksgiving!! Dr. John D. DeBrine Don't miss the new series on Songtime USA-"What Happens When a Believer Dies". Surveys indicate that fewer than 10% of born again Believers have ever led even one person to Jesus Christ! How can we explain that, particularly in view of the fact that Islam has grown by 400% in the United States? I have a suggestion: Go to the basic Biblical texts that deal with communicating our faith and note the doctrine that is associated with the communication. In other words: that particular doctrine must be known and applied. If the doctrine is not applied, the result is silence! You'll discover five reasons for silence. Let me share five basic texts and the doctrine associated with five texts which emphasize communicating:

Happy Thanksgiving Dear Family and Friends,
On this Thanksgiving holiday I thought that I would take some time out to reflect on the the things I am thankful for, and to just take a moment and say thanks to all of you for being here through the year. I really appreciate everyone. Thank you!
To my Kids: For being you and not someone I want you to be.. I can only guide you on your way up the ladder of life, and I promise you I will always do my best to get you to your level, but you must do the rest. You must get there by experience and never forget the people that have helped you along the way. You are all in my heart always. I worry about you every minute of the day and night, but what parent doesn't.
To my Father and Mother: For my mother who gave me life, I think of you every day and I wish you could be here to share everyday with us. I know you are watching over us from above. To my father who lives far away, thanks for sticking by me through all my mistakes in life. You don't always say "I Love You" to me, but I know you do.
To my Friends: Whether you are my friend in real life or my friend on the internet, I care about you all.

ADVERTISEMENT Thanksgiving By Sandy Berger No time is better than November to brush up on your Thanksgiving knowledge, and nothing can be a better resource than the Internet. One of my fondest memories is a Thanksgiving quiz tackled by my whole family around the table after devouring the turkey. The prize was a get-out-of-washing-the-dishes card which inspired the kids; we all had a ball. If this sounds like a fun idea and you want to custom-make your own Turkey Day Quiz or you realize you have forgotten more than you ever knew about the Mayflower Pact, giblet gravy, and William Bradford, the Internet can be just one more thing to be thankful for. Thanks to the World Wide Web, you can be an expert on Thanksgiving and its history, recipes and cooking, fun and games, and even football and parade schedules for the holiday weekend.
