United States Supreme Court ruling: Roe vs. Wade (1973):
Prior to the U.S. Supreme Court's famous Roe v. Wade decision, abortions were permitted in certain states but banned in others. The court ruled in 1973 that, anywhere in the U.S.: a woman and her doctor may freely decide to terminate a pregnancy during the first trimester, state governments can restrict abortion access after the first trimester with laws intended to protect the woman's health. abortions after fetal viability must be available if the woman's health or life are at risk; state governments can prohibit other abortions. The Roe vs. Wade case involved a pregnant single woman ("Roe") who brought a class action challenging the constitutionality of the Texas criminal abortion laws, which prohibited any abortion except to save the woman's life. A married couple (the "Does") separately attacked the laws on the basis that an accidental pregnancy could find them unprepared for childbearing and could pose a hazard to the wife's health. The Does' appeal was rejected as being too speculative. The Supreme court found that: "

Prosecutions of Fugitives in Mexico The Attorney General provides assistance to local law enforcement agencies when a homicide or other major crime has been committed by an individual who flees to Mexico to avoid arrest and prosecution in Texas. The Attorney General serves as a liaison between local law enforcement agencies and the Mexican authorities when the U.S. authorities request the prosecution of a suspect in Mexico's courts. The Mexican Federal Penal Code, under Article 4, allows for the domestic prosecution of Mexican nationals who commit crimes in a foreign country and then flee back to Mexico in search of a safe haven from prosecution. Article 4 of the Mexican Federal Penal Code permits a state or federal agency to request of the Mexican authorities that a suspected criminal be arrested and prosecuted in Mexico. Texas prosecutors and other law enforcement professionals should keep in mind that the Mexican federal authorities are not obligated to accept and prosecute Article 4 cases in Mexico. However, Mexican officials have demonstrated great enthusiasm in assisting their American counterparts through the use of Article 4. Prosecutors should not submit cases for prosecution in Mexico which do not meet the sufficiency of evidence standard to warrant prosecution in Texas courts. I am extremely pleased that he is joining the Office of the Attorney General. Greg Brunson looks forward to hearing your concerns and helping you any way he can. Attorney at Law
It would be very convenient if all state and federal codes, statutes, and caselaw were available on the World Wide Web. This would give lay people easy access to the laws that they must follow and it would allow attorneys to do legal research without having to leave their office to go to a law library, or pay for expensive collections of casebooks. Unfortunately, economic realities dictate that we may never see all of the substantive law of all the states on the Web. Several states receive quite a bit of income by selling the exclusive rights to publish that state's caselaw. In addition, it is quite expensive to publish and maintain a web site, and money for such a project is not available in all states. Caselaw on the Web ideally would include decisions from at least the last 30 years, a sophistocated search engine for locating relevant law, case summaries, headnotes, etc. Providing all of these on a Web site would be very expensive. Given the above, it is impressive how much substantive law
