A beautifully presented 3D puzzle based around the idea of rotating a space station so that an astronaut can enter the airlock. Although the concept is interesting, and the execution impressive, a lack of clear instructions and a variety of spelling mistakes rendered the puzzle itself almost impenetrable to this reviewer. Maths specialists, however, may have more luck, and it would be a shame if the site's obvious potential was not taken advantage of. Centroid of a triangle

    Office The Transforming Math Fair was created to allow students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop skills related to transformational geometry. Expectations from Grade 6, 7 and 8 Mathematics, Geometry strand, from Oral and Visual Communications and from Visual Arts were addressed. Timing Two full school days were dedicated to this program. The school schedule had to be adjusted to allow each day to be divided into 4 equal periods of about 75 minutes. Setup Six work places were setup around the school. These included: library computer lab, resource room, gym, stage, and two classrooms. Each work station needed to accommodate up to 9 students. Equipment In addition to the computers in the lab, other computers were brought into a classroom so that each student, up to 9 in a group, would have access to a work station.

    John de Pillis's Mathematical Conversation Starters is a book of quotations, primarily on mathematical subjects, but also extending to mathematics' links with such matters as faith, belief, art, beauty, music and so on. It also includes a few dialogues exploring various mathematical themes. Here are some quotes I enjoyed: True science is restrictively the study of useless things. For the useful things will get studied without the aid of scientists. To employ rare minds on such work is like running a steam engine by burning diamonds. (C.S. Peirce) Logic is the art of going wrong with confidence. (Morris Kline) That student is best taught who is told the least. (R.L. Moore) Part of the charm of a book of quotations is the pleasure of coming across familiar favorite quotations and the other part is in encountering new quotations to add to one's collection of favorites. Every reader will of course have a different set for the first category, but I am sure the book will provide enough for everyone in both the categories.
