EIGHTH-GRADER: 'I just like to know where everything is.'
    By:
    jennifer.fern@oakridger.com

Hunter Ripley, an eighth-grade student at Robertsville Middle School, came in first place at the Tennessee Geography Bee April 2 in Nashville. Ripley said he enjoys geography and is a member of the Geography Club, which meets every Thursday after school. "I just like to know where everything is," Ripley said. He confided that his "top secret" way of preparing involves studying the old-fashioned way with several atlases and almanacs, as well as using modern technology. Marie Moffitt/Staff Hunter Ripley, left, shows his teacher, Greg Hamilton, where Montserrat is on the globe. 'Montserrat' was Ripley's winning answer at the Tennessee Geography Bee in Nashville. He will compete at the national competition in May in Washington, D.C. against students from all 50 states.
