Issue 42 Television Sportscasters (Male)
This issue looks at the career paths of five male television sportscasters ones who followed a journalism path rather than a competitive sports career path. (I will look at female sportscasters in the next issue.)
  • Joe Buck is a skilled sportscaster who also benefited by having the right family connections. His father, Jack Buck, called St. Louis Cardinals baseball for years and was elected to the broadcaster's wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also did Monday Night Football play-by-play on CBS radio for 16 years.
In 1989, while Joe Buck was attending Indiana University, he began doing play-by-play for the Louisville Redbirds, a Cardinals minor league affiliate. "I sent my tape to Anheuser-Busch [owner of the Cardinals] and they saw the novelty of my being Jack Buck's kid." (1) He was also a reporter for ESPN's coverage of minor league baseball's Triple-A All-Star Game. In 1991 Buck graduated with a degree in English and a minor in telecommunications. He became a radio and television announcer for the Cardinals. In 1992 he also became the voice of the University of Missouri basketball team. In 1993 he was announcing Major League Baseball for CBS Radio and calling play-by-play for Missouri baseball on Prime Network. In addition, he was a sports reporter for the local CBS affiliate, did Grand Prix Horse Jumping play-by-play for ESPN, and was a host of a radio talk show.

107. METV - Home
broadcasting from Marjayoun, Occupied South Lebanon region under the control of South Lebanon Army (SLA) and Israeli Occupation Forces. Notably Christian programming from the owner Christian broadcasting Network . Other programs, news, features. Also Voice of Hope radio station.
http://www.metv.org
From its conception Middle East Television/METV has been committed to bringing the Gospel message of hope and peace to the troubled Middle East. METV began broadcasting wholesome family entertainment in 1982 from a television van parked on the border of Israel and Lebanon. The gospel began to glow as a bright candle from what then was the only independent television station in the Middle East. Because of its vulnerability to the forces of local politics, war and terrorism, METV's growth and endurance through the decades can only be attributed to the grace and protection of God. Today METV continues to shine even brighter, bringing the light of the gospel to at least 15 Middle Eastern nations, 24 hours a day, via satellite.
METV is owned by LeSEA Broadcasting, who, through television, radio, shortwave and satellite broadcasting, plus its world relief organizations, touches every country on the planet with the word of God. Please browse though our website to learn more about us, and our operations.
