The Biotechnology Online Secondary School Resource provides balanced factual information about biotechnology and has been designed to fit with Australian State and Territory Science curriculum statements. There is potential for cross-over into Studies of Society and the Environment, to allow for broader discussion of the issues.
This resource aims to address the current need for Australian secondary schools to have access to up-to-date information about biotechnology. It supplements other educational resources by providing informational text, case studies, online and off-line activities for students, and notes for teachers to support these.
Biotechnology Online can help teachers and students to explore and understand the differing points of view on current practices and the ethical and moral questions that form a part of the present debate on biotechnology.
The Glossary has definitions of 100 terms used throughout the web site. The glossary can also be reached by clicking on a highlighted word in the text in any section of Biotechnology Online.
