Jewish meditation at Yehi Or - New England Jewish Meditation Center Home
Welcome to Yehi Or Website and greetings to all our companions with a great love! We are a Para-Denominational Equalitarian Jewish Organization dedicated to the practice, promotion, teachings, and proliferation of Jewish meditation in the New England states. We support the formation of free, weekly drop-in Jewish meditation groups where Holy brothers and sisters may sit quietly and equally amongst each other in contemplative peace. We are an independent center of Jewish meditation with no affiliations to any other Jewish organizations at this time. Though being beyond denomination, we are free to work with other Jewish organizations and form alliances with other groups. Our aim is to offer our New England Jewish meditation services to meet the needs of all those seeking a contemplative path within Judaism. To connect teachers of Jewish meditation with those who seek Jewish meditation. To connect those seeking Jewish meditation with Jewish meditation teachers. You need not even be Jewish to learn Jewish meditation, Jewish mysticism, and mussar practices. Jewish Meditation is an ancient practice dating back to our father Avraham and his meditative encounter with the Divine. Since this time Jewish meditation has been practiced and taught by a steady lineage of our Holy Jewish Meditation teachers. It is a set of techniques whose purpose is to prepare mind for constant connection with God. Towards bringing Mochin Gadlut(enlightenment), peace, joy, happiness, equanimity, harmony, and love into the world.

We invite you to join us this year in showing your support and care by actively participating in PTO. We believe each parent member has great energy, skills, and ideas to contribute, and we value this participation above financial contributions by not charging dues to become a member. We meet the first Wednesday of the month for approximately one hour in the Principal's Conference Room/Administration Building. The focus of our meetings is to keep you informed. Each meeting will highlight a particular topic of interest to Central High parents. For example, our first meeting, September 4th, the Counseling Office presented valuable information about scholarship opportunities for your child. Other topics to be presented during the year include Volunteer Opportunities for Students, Central High Activities Night, Summer Employment Opportunities for Students, How to Live Within the Dress Code, and Curriculum Choices. We welcome your ideas for other topics as well.

The PTO is a non-profit and unincorporated association of its members. It has no affiliation with any other local, state, or national organizations. You are a member of our PTO if you are a parent or guardian of a Mitchell student, a member of the administration, or a staff member at Mitchell Elementary. According to our by-laws, we sponsor a membership drive each fall and ask for your donations. The PTO Board comprised of parents, faculty and staff, meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:15 p.m. in the library during the school year. They plan events and functions and manage the business of running the PTO. These meetings are always open to PTO members. Our PTO is the charter organization that sponsors Boy Scouts at Mitchell. The PTO engages in several different areas of activities to help meet our objectives. Some are described below:
Hospitality
Liaisons
Two teachers serve on the PTO Board and bring information to and from the rest of the Mitchell staff. The PTO has representatives to the APS North East Region Citizens Advisory Council to keep us informed of APS activities, policies, etc. The PTO also has a liaison to the Hoover Middle School Parent Faculty Organization (PFO) to keep channels of communication open between the two schools.

to your Hawthorn District #73 P.T.O.

Whether you are a parent, student, school staff member or community member, this P.T.O. is yours. We all work together "to enhance the education of our children by promoting the connection between home, school and the community." You are invited to participate, as much as possible, in the variety of fund raising, promotional programs, and special events that are held throughout the school year. With your help, the P.T.O. was able to distribute over $80,000 in the 2002-03 school year to the schools. This money was used to directly benefit all of our students! So, join in the fun, and watch the amazing things we can do when we work together!
It has been nice to see new faces at the monthly PTO meetings. Please feel free to attend and get an idea of what your PTO does for our children. Meetings are held on the First Wednesday of each month (with an occassional exception- please refer to the meeting dates below) at NEW TIME 7:00 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room.
