principles and practice of flowering plant taxonomy. Emphasis is placed on of plant taxonomy, including evolutionary trends, patterns of speciation, biogeography, and floral biology
    http://www.colby.edu/info.tech/BI211/Bio211.html
An introduction to the principles and practice of flowering plant taxonomy. Emphasis is placed on acquiring the facility to use appropriate terminology in order to identify plants, as well as understanding the historical context and investigative procedures of taxonomists in designing a classification. Of particular importance is gaining an understanding of the philosophical bases in taxonomy and the relevance of this field to other areas of biology. Course
    Objectives:
    • Learn vegetative and reproductive features and terminology that are useful in the identification of flowering plants. Gain ability to use published keys for the identification of flowering plants. Learn to recognize some of the common and unusual families of flowering plants in Maine. Understand the principles of plant taxonomy, including evolutionary trends, patterns of speciation, biogeography, and floral biology. Gain an understanding of the relationships between evolutionary mechanisms, evolutionary history, and the classification of organisms. Develop an ability to critically examine the extent to which a classification system reflects relationships between organisms.

    CONCH-L
Are you having trouble finding the online information you need about the hobby of conchology? Do you want to link up with other shellers? To answer your needs, the Conchologists of America has established the Conch-List, CONCH-L, the first Listserv expressly for shell collectors. You can subscribe by sending your email address immediately. Conch-L will provide a forum for conchologists, indeed, for anyone with an interest in mollusks, to discuss any topic related to conchology. Looking for storage cabinets for your collection? Want to know how to start a catalog? Do you just want to talk shells with a like-minded group of people? Or find a good spot for a shelling vacation? The Conch-L will help you get it together. Here is your opportunity to interact by email with conchologists around the world. Get answers to your questions from other members, find shellers with similar interests, report new finds and field observations, help others learn more about our fascinating hobby. And you can keep up with events in the shell world: messages about meetings, shell shows, new species, new regulations, software for the collector, conventions, and exhibitions will be posted frequently. In fact, CONCH-L will host messages on just about every aspect of conchology. Your interests and your participation are our only limitations. Both beginners and advanced conchologists alike will find our list server useful. We also invite and encourage the professional community to participate on CONCH-L. We will, as always, need you, your interest and your advice.

Ms. M. Hello! Welcome to my webpage. This page is being created to help my students and the members of the school club that I sponsor. The club is a Marine Science Club. I teach Biology and Marine Biology. While trying to get the members of my club prepared for the National Ocean Science Bowl, and having my students do a project on taxonomy, I found that it isn't simple to find full taxonomy without a lot of trouble. Thus was the beginning of this project.
I attempt to make information available for my students. Being a very small district (only one high school) and on the lower end of the financial scheme, any extra info. has to be donated. This is my donation. Hopefully this site will be of some value to others (not just my students).
I am rather new at making a wegpage, so please be patient with me. I will be updating this site daily. I would appreciate any feedback. Also, donations are always welcome to help the club make it to the National Ocean Science Bowl. If you would like to help out please click on the link below.

    INTRODUCTION
Who can imagine a world devoid of a miriad strange and beautiful life forms? Who would want to? The thousands of species on earth are what make this planet stand out from any other place we know of in the universe. They create the conditions which enable us humans to survive, and their mere existance enriches our lives in ways too numerous to count. Some groups of species have, fairly or not, gotten a bad reputation: bacteria, creepy-crawlies of all denominations, all things venomous and ferocious, and so on. (And who

Parts 1, 2, and 3A of volume VII, i.e., the Crustacea , were published in French in, respectively, 1994, 1996, and 1999. However, some of the manuscripts dated from the early 1980s and it was clear from the beginning that in many fields of biology a mere translation of the existing text would not suffice. Thus, all chapters have been carefully reviewed, either by the original authors or by newly attracted specialists, and adequate updates have been prepared accordingly.
