In 1989 Rashid Al Araby who was a student of Yerevan’s Polytechnic Institute from Morocco established his first groups of taekwondo. In 1989 Varujan Arshakyan who was a wushu instructor has gone to learn taekwondo in Russia where taekwondo was doing his first steps. The teacher of V. Arshakyan became Kum Hong Lee (9th dan, now the Secretary General of WTF). Passing the examination at the head of master Lee Varujan took black belt 1st dan. Returning in Armenia in 1990 V. Arshakyan and M. Shahnazaryan opened their first taekwondo groups. In 1991 they founded the first Taekwondo Federation of Armenia. In 1992 took place the first Championships of Armenia. In the same year (1992) the new - born Armenian Federation already have got his first prizewinners in the international competitions: Arman Ananyan and Armen Arakelyan have became bronze prizewinners of the first Championship of USSR. In 1993 the president of the federation became Gagik Nersisyan (deputy of the Armenian Parliament).

Wick Korea was controlled by the Japanese from 1909 (the year of Korea’s occupation by the Japanese) until 1945 (the year of Korea’s liberation). During this time, the Korean martial arts were under ban by the Japanese Resident General. Nevertheless, these arts continued to be studied in secret, especially in Buddhist monasteries, in remote, mountainous regions; in this way, some Koreans kept alive their native subak and taekyon. Meanwhile, other Koreans, studying or working in Japan and China, became familiar with karate and kung fu, and began to blend them with their own martial arts. In 1945, with Korea’s liberation, the first of several martial arts kwans ("schools") was established in Korea: the five kwans considered to be original ones were all established in 1945 and 1946. Three more, all major, were established later, in 1953 and 1954: one of these was oh do kwan, founded by general Choi Hong Hi and an associate; and another was ji do kwan (ji "knowledge/wisdom," do "way/art of," kwan "school": "wisdom-way school," or "kwan of the way of knowledge"), founded by Gae Byang Yun. (Later on, still other kwans were established.)
