What is United States Masters Swimming? United States Masters SwimmingÂs (USMS) prime credo is fitness. Masters swimming means wanting to be fit, having the pleasure of being with other swimmers sharing these interests, and for some releasing the competitive juices from time to time. USMS is a national organization that exists to help swimmers enjoy the sport to its fullest. USMS organization is composed of several zones, regions and local clubs. For example, the River City Sharks is a local club in Lawrence, Kansas and is in the Missouri Valley region that is part of the Breadbasket zone. Competition is based on this organizational structure with local, regional, zone and national championships.
